In the wake of this recent murderous shooting spree at 2 religeous locations in Colorado, I have to wonder???? I'm very thankful for the woman security guard who was able to stop the shooter from killing anymore people. Atta girl!! God bless you sister! I'm mindfull of one of the things Jesus said "blessed are the peacemakers". She certainly was a peacemaker when she stopped the insane murder of innocent people. I'm also aware that Jesus said "turn the other cheek", and "he who lives by the sword shall die by the sword". I don't want anybody to think I'm criticizing the security woman. I think she did a wonderful job! I just would like to hear other people's thoughts on this issue, to help me digest what happened and put it into Spiritual perspective. This has become such an insane world when we need to have armed guards killing people at church to protect the worshippers.

This is one of the best questions I have seen in a long time. I have thought about this point many times in my long Christian life and I still can't come to peace with either side of the coin.
On the one hand, what are we supposed to do, allow lunatics to murder innocent people? No. So this thought supports security guards with guns guarding a church.
On the other hand, what would Jesus do? He said, "All who live by the sword will die by the sword." He didn't say that when someone was attacking someone else. He said that when Peter was defending him, an innocent person (God) in the Garden of Gethsemane. I don't think Jesus would condone guns of any kind.
Yet I agree with them both! I am confused on this issue. Maybe some answerer will help me to finally know what is right concerning this issue of Christians carrying arms.

My thoughts are that the people who kicked this guy out of the missionary school knew what they were doing. As to the sister who shot this murderer, more power to her!

Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4 For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.
When Jesus said "he who lives by the sword will die by the sword" He wasn't saying that it was wrong to protect your self.
Luke 22:35 Then Jesus asked them, "When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?" "Nothing," they answered. 36 He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.
Jesus knew that without His protecting presence his disciples would need a physical defense against attackers.

all I have 2 say is this should be a warning that PPl from everywhere need 2 consider salvation and not take that lightly. If U can be killed in Gods house image not following him and meeting your maker unsaved. This prooves theres a bigger Devil out on the loose, AND THE devil doesnt care where he does his job-He only has so long 2 take as many lives as he can-but that doesnt mean he can take their soals-That decision is up 2 us all- Where we plan 2 spend internity. Heaven or Hell- this case further dimenstrates How were living in the times of war between Good & Evil.

But how many days to by without some lunatic blowing themselves to smithereens inside a mosque in Iraq? A situation that did not exist before America's imperialist adventures. Why do Western worshippers matter more than non-Western ones?

The woman was called in after the first shooting. She was not a fixture at the church. The wisdom and forsight by the person who beefed up security is worth commending. I think it sends a message to all of the gun-control freaks and business owners who do not provide adequate security that something has to be done to control the direction of the nation.

According to the news on TV today, the same gunman attacked a church in Denver in the morning, then drove 80 miles south to attack the 2nd church later in the day.
Since the gunman talked about the 2nd church to the people at the first church, the people in the 2nd church got a security guard to protect them.
Something they never had before.

What happened was law (worketh wrath & vengeance).

Sweet Jesus gets bitter to digest when swallowed.
More ppl, 12 died from an ice storm in Oklahoma.
But I guess you don't have to digest their deaths.

Churches?
- first it was get licensed by law = not grace us
- then it was lock the doors = not grace us
- now a shooting rampage = not grace us & worse
- next it'll be locked doors & burned with ppl inside
Silly churches want a vengeful Son of man to return.
He flat out said it would be with Sodomic destruction
Churches need to wake up or vanish as promised

Turn the other check refers to personal insult, not to self preservation or the protection of life from an evil doer. And living by the gun and dying by the gun could be a truism, but it is more proverbial. It is not as though this woman is a mercenary or a pirate. She hopes to never use her gun, but did on the one occasion that called for it. Jesus, Himself, told His disciples, "if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one" (Luke 22:36).

It says in the end times that people are going to be lovers of themselves & that crime is going to be rampant just like in Noah's day. Its sad that it happened there but the good thing for those Christians is they went before me & now they are enjoying the fruits of accepting Jesus Christ as their Saviour! I trust they are having a wonderful time in Heaven!!! praise God He gets all the glory! everything for His perfect Will. We are getting so close aren't we that soon it will be my turn & what an experience it will be to see my blessed Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ in Glory how wonderful!
