First off, microwaves don't give off radiation. Not unless you have a nuclear powered microwave.

Microwaves may leak RF energy in the front if the door seal is compromised in some way. Potential damage to human tissue from RF emissions is proportional to both the power level and the time of exposure. Damage to tissue occurs through localized heating (duh! - just like how a microwave works). Tissue damage does not occur because of particle radiation as in the case of true nuclear radiation. Even a leaky microwave door will provide pretty good attenuation of the internal RF field.

And keep in mind that if you double your distance from the microwave, the energy that you absorb goes down by a factor of 4.

That being said, there is no reason you can't stand within a reasonable distance (whatever that means, maybe 6" to a foot) and be perfectly safe. If you're that concerned about it, you really ought to think twice about yakking on your cell phone for hours every day. You're holding a source of RF right up to your head, about as close to your brain as you can get it!

RF absorption in human tissue has been studied for a long time and there are no conclusive results saying that RF from cellphones, walkie talkies, or microwave ovens is dangerous when used correctly.

Actually there's no problem on standing infront of a microwave, HOWEVER, some experts advise not to, because there could be a leaking and the microwave could become dangerous.

The microwave itself has a filter, that doesn't let microwaves from it go outside, think about it, do you really think people would buy a microwave if it was dangerous?

As I said above, they just advise you not to stand infront of it in case of a leaking, because your microwave might be broken, so you would be expose to radiation, but microwaves does not cause "cancer" they just burn your skin and damage your genitals causing sterilization, that's why women are advise not to stand in front of one, because there might be a leaking and damage her fetus.

It's not a myth, Nikki doesn't believe what she can't see obviously. I guess she'll say evolution is a myth, that maybe erosion is a myth but they are all real. What happens is this: Ever had an X-ray before? Well, the reason you wear a protective lead vest sometimes is to keep out the harmful X-rays from coming into contact with your skin cells, which mutates or kills them depending on the amount of exposure, so to be truthful there are never harmless X-rays, just the extremely fast ones don't cause but microscopic damage. But your microwave is a powerful instrument capable of releasing huge bursts of radiation, if you put a CD in the microwave and bust a hole in the door and set the timer for like 1:00 minute you can be sure to be screwed up to holy @*#$, the thing is... will it kill you.. NO, it won't but it's just not healthy and does cause unseen damage to your skin cells.

Actually the instructions which come with the microwave oven at least mine say that you shouldn't be near the microwave when it works , it says as well that you don't open the door of the oven until few moments past the last long beep . some rays may leak as well from the door button not just from the door itself .

It can be done. Turn on your stove top add a little oil in a decent sized pan and let it heat up. Meanwhile get a separate container to transfer the popcorn over after it pops cut open the top of the microwave popcorn bag. Take a couple of kernels out of the bag and place in the oil. once these kernels pop pour the contents of the bag including the butter and cover the pan. Once you hear the corn start to pop shake the pan. Stop when you don't hear any more pops and transfer the popped corn to the new container to prevent burning and let cool. This does work I have done it.

It's not the best idea probably because microwaves are not entirely containted within the microwave itself, and being exposed to them is never a good idea

assuming everything on the microwave ir properly
sealed and there no leaks of radiation i feel there
should be little or probably no danger.

It is true because it has artificial heat waves that are almost like radiation that is used to break down cells.
