The First guy that answered this said, "Good Money" BULL SH#T! The money sucks! I served Seven years in the Army. The only time it was good was when I was in Iraq. I got hazardous duty pay and stuff. I got about 1,200 a month extra. I was also stationed in Germany for Two years. The pay was better there than it was when I was in the States. I was at Ft. Hood, TX for Three and a half yrs. I got over seas pay in Germany. I don't know how much extra that is.
You will get in good physical shape.
You make some good friends.
Good life experience.
You see the world.
You will probably go to Iraq or Afghanastan and get shot at, mortared. Or like what happened to me, I my truck got blown up with a road side bomb in Iraq. I wasn't hurt though.
You work lots of over time and get NO OVER TIME PAY!! In fact, they usually will not compensate you at all for working over time on week days or Week ends or even on hollidays.
The Army always gives you a bunch of bull ****.
It is not worth it over all!
On the other hand, I get vetrans bennifits, I am in the VFW, I have the GI Bill, Gurranteed Home loan. The VA will co-sign a loan for me. I am tryng to get compensated for some injuries I received in Iraq and other places in the Army. If it all goes through and I can prove the Army injured me, then they will have to send me a check of an undetermined amount every month for the rest of my life. The VA would have to determine the amount they have to pay me if it goes through.
It builds dicipline, you learn to deal with people you don't like, such as a** holes at work. You get used to team work. You get good training for a job in the civilian world.
You get 5 or 10 extra points automaticly on a fed test.
You learn to shoot a gun, hand to hand combat. The list goes on.

Lots of cons not many pros. The pay sucks. Don't listen to others it sucks. Like being shot at ? How about when you need post combat medical support. When you come back and you are in pieces and the VA will not help. Think before you join.

permit's see now. What did he somewhat do? Did he create the stress? Did he authorize the preparation? Did he plan the logistics? Did he authorize the investment? Did he plan the operation? i will supply Obama credit while he stands in front of a microphone and says, "the militia merits each and all of the credit for this. All I did replaced into supply them the ok". Obama provides the orders to take out some pirates and he's retaining us risk-free? Bush provides the orders to take out Saddam Hussein and his sons and the place have been you?
