I generally abstain from sugar, high fructose corn syrup, etc, which can be pretty difficult at times, as it seems that 90% of prepared foods have it as one of their main ingredients. Anyway, I find that when I DO indulge, like lets say half a chocolate chip cookie or something, I almost immediately have the urge to go number two. It happens like clockwork, so I am wondering, does sugar act as a laxative at all? Does it aid in digestion? What is going on here? Thanks!

According to my research there is no information to suggest sugar is playing a role in your malady. You could a have a food allergy to something in the cookie. Do you have similar responses to other sweet foods?

IF no you might want to switch cookies. If yes you may need to see a doctor.

I listed some links to sugar absorption and to a website that deals with digestion problems.

Good Luck

high fructose corn syrup most definitely has laxative effects on the bowel, is one of many reasons I avoid it like the plague.
