My husband wants Guitar Hero for PS2 for Christmas. I found software that has both versions I and II on it, and I am just going to get him that version because III is so hard to buy right now, and he has a birthday in a few months. I do have some questions I need help with, however.

First of all, which controller is the best? I have been reading reviews, and it looks like the Gibson version is fine, but it says it's approximately 3/4 scale. Does having it be smaller than a regular guitar cause problems, or is it pretty easy to get used to? If you don't think the Gibson is good, which one do you recommend?

My second question is about the songs available. One of the reasons he wants it is because our friend told him one of the tracks available on GHII is "YYZ" by Rush. I cannot seem to find a comprehensive listing of what songs are available. I know II is 80s hair-band stuff, but is there somewhere I can find a listing of the songs for all the versions of the game?

Thanks!

Oh, one other thing. I am assuming the cordless option for the controller is better than the corded option, as it allows you to jam without tripping on cords. Is my thinking correct on that? If the corded version is better, can you please tell me why that is so?

Thanks again. All help is greatly appreciated.

First, for the guitar, I recommend you get the white and black wireless guitar seen here.

http://www.amazon.com/Playstation-Guitar-Hero-Wireless/dp/B000I5X65S

I like it because it's wireless and the buttons are easy to push. I have this guitar and haven't had any problems with it at all, and I've had it for over a year. It works just as good as a wired guitar.

When it says the guitar is a 3/4 scale, it is referring to the actual guitar model. All of the PS2 guitars are the same size, so you won't have to won't have to worry about that.

For what you said about Guitar Hero 2 being 80s, that isn't entirely incorrect. There are actually two separate games, Guitar Hero II, and Guitar Hero II Encore: Rocks the 80s.

Here are the track lists of all of the Guitar Hero games

Guitar Hero 1 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_in_Guitar_Hero_II

Guitar Hero 2 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_in_Guitar_Hero_II
(make sure you look at the PS2 list, the one on the left)

Guitar Hero 80s - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_in_Guitar_Hero_II

Guitar Hero 3 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_in_Guitar_Hero_III:_Legends_of_Rock

If you are not going to get Guitar Hero 3, than I suggest that you do get Guitar Hero 2. It has the best track list of the first three Guitar Hero games and, like you said, it has YYZ by Rush.

If you can though I recommend you get him Guitar Hero 3. It doesn't have YYZ, but overall I think it has a better track list. Also, it is easier to play than Guitar Hero 2.

So unless your husband really has his heart set on playing YYZ, I recommend you get him Guitar Hero 3

1st Q: you should always go for the official controller, the gibson is the best one and it is not too small.

2nd Q: Rush by YYZ is on GH2

well i own 1,2,and rocks the 80's. the guitar that it comes with is always better. to get song listings you can surf the internet with a search engine. and wired is the best because the wireless lags a little bit.
