Would we think they were the same? Would a person be insulted to know that they were given a dog treat, instead of a kind-of-old-ish breakfast snack? How do we know that restaurants don't do this just for fun?

I don't take my food cues from a creature that eats it's own feces.

Your question made me remember that I had a bag of beggin' strips in my pantry, so I just went and got three of them out and gave them to my german sheppard. She has eaten all three now. It took her about 3 minutes. If it had been actual bacon she would've eaten a pound in that time, so I just asked her which she prefers, bacon or beggin' strips, she didn't answer but we all know that actions speak louder than words.

How do you know the dog can not tell the difference? Maybe it likes both. I can tell the difference between a hamburger patty and a piece of meatloaf, but would eat either one.

A person would recognize the difference in color, texture, and I assume taste between real bacon and dog treats.

There's no evidence that a dog thinks its bacon.. THere's no evidence that a dog knows what bacon is. The dog just knows that he wants it. FOr all we know the dog just likes bacon as well as beggin strips and doesn't actually categorize them as the same.

As inspiring as that is, they LOOK different
