You should definitely check if the tranny you have now will match up to the 3.9. Other than that it should fit pretty well, just be sure to make sure you buy everything you need, new mounts, etc.

ps... the durango is going to feel like you are moving in slow motion from now on.

It'll fit. But it will cost a LOT more money than rebuilding or replacing the same size engine.

The least you'll need is the computer from the donor engine
Fabrication of engine mounts
Fabrication for transmission mounts if you can't use the same transmission, same goes for all the trans lines, custom drive shaft, all linkages will have to be replaced.
Probably new wiring harness and/or custom fabrication for your wiring.

There will be other mods needed as you proceed with the exchange.

why the hell would you put a 3.9 in a 5.2 liter suv the 3.9 liter gets almost every bit as crappy gas millage as the V8 as for fitting you should have plenty of room the problem you may run into is finding a bell housing to fit the 3.9 but in this case i think their the same bolt patterns etc... but i d check on it first

purely upload a large charger off the internet and you'd be pushing greater horsepower than a inventory v8 Charger and greater suited gasoline milage than a inventory v8. this might fee someplace around $5000 as against an engine exchange for roughly $15,000 with a sparkling v8 from save away from in case you may save your present day transmission.

Why? Is it hoping for better mileage?

It will fit but you would need to change all the electronics too. Its going to cost you a lot more to change engines than you would ever save in gas money.

it will fit it ,but there's a lot of changing to do on it,it would almost be better to get another good,5.2 engine,by the time you get done doing this you,ll probably wish you had just got another good 5.2 and be done with it,you just about have to change everything on it,and i mean everything good luck.

word from here is it isn't worth all the hassle. You will need to replace the entire under hood wiring harness and engine computer.
