The question should be can you be a creationist and a biologist. The guy deserved the ax, I hope this case is thrown out.
I think it is hilarious where he went to work after that, Liberty University, home of Jerry Farwell.

Perhaps if you agree with the first part then it isn't such a leap to say a Christian can't be a biologist. Of course, not all Christians agree with #1, and though it would be difficult because of the pervasiveness of the "evolution is fact" assumption in biology, I think a Christian can definitely be a biologist...just may have a harder time finding employment than someone that doesn't buy into the party line!

Why can't you be gay and be a Christian? I know a lot of Christians that over eat (gluttony). Their are Christians that look at porn (lust). Do we have to go through all the sins. I know were suppose to stop sinning but sometimes we far short. I hope we can forgive the gays like we forgive other sinners. Let pray for the sinners each and every one whatever their sin is, that the Lord would help them by taking it away from them or at least that he would give them the strength to overcome their problem. God bless

Absolutely yes! There is nothing sinful in investigating scientific facts; investigating our natural world is not forbidden by God.

The scientist in the posted article is within his rights to believe as he does. Acceptance of the Darwinian Hypothesis should not be required for someone studying animals in the here and now. Firing a person for their personal beliefs is illegal!

The study of biology is not a sin.

If this man was unfairly fired for reason "A". Then the law allows you due process to sue the employer. It does not matter whether you believe or doubt reason "A". It's the law. You cannot hire or fire anyone based on color, creed, or religious affiliation.

Wired, you are kidding, right? Ask any believer in Hollywood why they have to keep their Christianity secret. Those in charge of providing work in the media are the most discriminatory lot on the planet. In fact, when Dean Jones became a born again Christian, his first quote was, "Well, there goes my career." Hollywood discovered the conversion, and he never got work again.
I have a friend who used to work in Disneyland. He could not rise in the ranks because he was a Christian and would not attend the shmoozing Gay parties. He quit out of sheer frustration.

You can be anything you want and be a christian, but you may not be accepted by all churches.

That's ridiculous. These have to be a bunch of very insecure scientists, if they cannot grant the person the freedom to choose his/her own beliefs.

my sister got her bachelors in biology and she is in her 2nd semester of medical school.

she's a christian. God has called her to be a doctor to help people. God said homosexuality was a sin, He didn't say that helping people with medical issues was a sin. or even trying to understand how the earth was created was a sin.

Apparently not. Christians aren't discriminated against. Remember?
