Ever notice how parking lots are significantly hotter than the surrounding air? For all you crazy AGW lemmings, has anyone suggested painting all asphalt (and other black surfaces) white? This would reflect much of the sunlight back into space.
And if this idea is a winner I want full credit. Do not steal my idea without proper references.

Rats! Here I thought I would go down in history as the person who saved the world. Wait, maybe we can create a man made volcano which spews sulphates into the air.

I like the idea of wearing tin hats to reflect the sun's radiation.

The truth is, no matter how many times you flip the coin that seems to be the only truth. Theres is no guarenteed god, heaven, hell, or spiritual fullfillment. But you never know whats on the other side, or if you'll get a 2nd run around the track. The other truth is, absolutely nothing is definate, those who say otherwise are blind. I have come to that conclusion too, even if I do something memorable the world will end. Even if I save a life, said person will die later. There's an old saying "The only sure things in life are Death, Pain, and Taxes" I share that conclusion with you, everything is pointless, so I'd say wing it and have as much fun as you can before the lights burn out. You never know whats on the other side, but you know what you do here.

Daft as it may seem, your idea has been given consideration. More in repsect of painting buildings white but it's the same principle - dark surfaces absorb heat, light ones reflect it.
A few months ago I had the figures to hand and was able to quote them in an answer to a similar question. I can't recall them off the top of my head but the difference it would make is a very tiny amount indeed.
If you consider the total area of the planet that is under ashphalt and compare it to the total surface area of the planet it's a very tiny proportion.
It would help but on such a small scale as to be negligible.

It's not original.
However, it is an idea that is gaining traction.
If you can cool a city's peak anomalies by even 1 or 2 degrees F, you can substantially reduce the amount of energy required to cool such a city.

Yes, many people have made similar suggestions on Y!A.
Cities make up such a small fraction of the Earth's surface area (take a look at Google Earth sometime) that painting roofs or parking lots would make virtually no difference in the Earth's total reflectivity.
It would help slightly in reducing the urban heat island effect, but this is a local effect, not a global one.

BUTBUTBUT!!! That's probably not environmentally friendly, and it's not very green, gosh! You are a hypocrite, and probably paid by ExxonMobile and every other coal and oil industry out there! You are biased! You must be shunned!
Ha. Just kidding. That's what I think you'd get told if you actually tried to push that as an agenda. That wouldn't make the libs and environmental alarmists happy, because what they really want is socialism. It's just under the guise of the "fight for a greener world."
And I love the analogy about the lemmings, by the way.
(Dude...Dana, he's kind of joking.)
