A timely question, especially as there is now a fashion for placing christmas trees upside down.
Apparently this takes up less room and makes the decorations easier to hang ~ "...that it move not ..." indeed!
Just what can all this say about faith in relation to tinsel and flashing coloured lights?
It's a tricky one!
Cheers :-)

NO. Holy Cow, how many times a day does this get asked.
God judges your Heart!!!! He judges the motives behind you putting up a Christmas tree...not the fact you put one up.
Edit: To the Quiet Minister above: Do you pray NON STOP? Are you on your knees 24/7 as scripture requires? Do you take time out to eat, to poop, to maybe minister to other people? Of course you do. Read up on Peter, the great sheet, and food he couldn't eat...what did God tell him? We can eat FOOD dedicated to IDOLS, and still keep a pure spirit!!! Christ FREED us from all that legal mumbo jumbo. If you put a tree up and in your heart are honoring GOD, HE will be okay with that. Have some faith, bro.

Second Timothy Chapter 2 verses 23 through Chapter 3 verses 7. As an atheist it would seem you are wasting your time trying to convert Christians if you truly believe this is the only life you have why are you wasting it trying to convert believers. Eat drink and be merry tomorrow you may be dead.

All Christians clearly have to remove all Christmas trees, as if scripture says it, total obedience is required.
Or is the absolutism that applies elsewhere tempered out to a "well, you don't have to take everything in there literally (just the bits that I need to support my arguments)".
Cue slippery arguments that would do any lawyer proud. So, if one says that God judges what is in your heart, does that mean that homosexuals are OK?
Not homosexual, but using that as one of the scripture thumpers' favourite.
Nice spot!
EDIT BELOW: There would be many, many more Christians if more of them were like Richard F below.

many people take that scripture as it is referring to a Christmas tree,
you could relate it to the Christmas tree if that's all you read however that verse doesn't and isn't referring to a Christmas tree . read the cross references and and the entire chapter not just one verse.
it is talking about taking any tree cutting it down and making other worship As in when the king of Babylon made a stature and covered it with gold and told them to bow down and worship it.
how ever we dont worship a tree or pray to it.

God would be displeased if I bowed down and worshiped it. Whether I put up a tree or a flower in a pot, and then enjoy the celebration of Christ with my family makes little difference and perhaps, pleases God. As long as I honor God rather than the idol, he is plenty pleased. Your interpretation of scripture is incorrect. But true to form, that doesn't surprise me.

it incredibly is in basic terms certainly one of those issues that the church had co-opted to offer up the pagans from having their annual wintry climate Solstice competition and the comparable difficulty with Easter and Halloween. they actually did not comprehend while Jesus exchange into born and desperate that December 25 could be as solid as time and any to celebrate his start. The Catholic Church "stored" the pagan trip trips by way of injecting Jesus into them. it incredibly is a sturdy day to get inclusive of acquaintances and family members and supply presents in spite of the fact that it is likewise very annoying. for some years the trip exchange into not celebrated interior the US and Congress has even been in consultation on Christmas Day.

Modern people do not worship Xmas trees,, so the custom of Xmas tree's does not carry the significance of pagan worship that it did in Jeremiah.
