Roses lack the anthocyanin pigments found in other flower species that produce blue coloration. A company called Florigene is looking to release three GM roses altered to produce delphinidins, or blue pigments, in the flowers as well as their native carotenoids. These should be very blue as delphinidin (anthocyanin) is the pigment named for delphiniums.

When I wanted to express a gene in a mammalian cell for tissue culture I used an electrical pulse that superceded the membrane charge briefly. The cells are suspended in culture medium inside a cuvette with flanking poles that the charge is applied to. The DNA is also in the liquid. When the pulse is applied the cell membrane develops holes. Meanwhile the DNA rushes away from the negative pole because it is a charged molecule. If some DNA is rushing through a cell opening when the electric field drops it is left inside the cell. From there the cell takes care of the DNA as it does its own. This is called electroporation.
Other methods of DNA delivery use other vector systems. Viruses are very target specific so can be used to deliver a gene to an entire class of cells. I used lambda phage, viruses that are specific for bacteria, if I wanted to express a gene in E coli. Some of the virus' genes are removed so I could put in the gene of interest. The virus retains the ability to infect E coli but delivers the gene of choice.

nah they just splice to types together on the bush & hold in place like a bandage. as they grow the plant mixes, then the flower has changed colour.

i think they take different coloured flowers and get a cutting then transplant it onto another coloured flower then theres something to do with pollinating
