Most churches will have a dinner or something you can help with. If they don't have one, they'll surely be able to point you to the best ones around town.

Soup kitchens are the best because you get to see the peoples faces light up just because you gave them a smile and offered a friendly Hello.
Missions are great too, so are shelters where single parents(moms and dads)and their kids get to come in from the cold and maybe get to play with someone they don't know or have an adult conversation......

If you are serious, spend a day with Aids Children
They need someone to hold them and show they care
If you can afford to take toys that all can share that would be great but even if not Just your time and hugs would mean the world to kids without parents due to the illness and family that does not want them

I don't live in New York, and I don't know organizations but these things are what you can do on Christmas Day =] That I do too!
~Work in an orphan home
~Donate to the poor
~Pick up trash
Really, just be nice and you can help old citizens... Baby-sit... Or help some friends that are in a jam.. >_<
Happy Holidays.

The team of chef Mario Batali on the great Italian eating place Lupa in West Village, is offering the classic ceremonial dinner of 7 Fishes for $seventy 5.00. This Christmas Eve dinner incorporate lobster and crab stew with sardinian pasta and fennel. they say reservations would be closed on Christmas Day, yet i think of you need to touch them now in case you prefer to eat there on Christmas Day.

hi I live in NYC (Manhattan), there are many things you can do to help others.you could work in shelters donating coats for the winter.
help in churches who normally form events to help people especially children who can't get toys for financial reasons.
also in soup kitchens...but remember that the best thing to do for other is telling them you wish them a happy Christmas with a smile and telling them that there is always someone that cares for them.
