A. 5 Star; Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Peninsula Hotel, or the Shangri-la Hotels, all on the riverside. After that maybe the Conrad hotel, The Plaza Athenee' Le Meridien Hotel, Intercontinental Hotel or the Sukhothai Hote or Westin Grande Sukhumvit.
B. Budget/Economy: Pick one, I have no experience doing this. The Sawasdee chain seems okay.
C. Impress G/F: The Chakrabongse House Villas Hotel Bangkok is a possibility, and it is on the river. See link
http://www.asiarooms.com/thailand/bangkok/chakrabongse_house_villas.html
And any in Item A
D. Best locale in Bangkok: Subjective, if you have a hottie girlfriend, then you would want to find a hotel near good restaurants, discos and bars and you don't have to be near them. So, anything from in the heart of Bangkok would do. Cause you are either taking a taxi with her or hiring a car for the day or night.
If you want easy access find a hotel along the BTS Skytrain.
For hotels prices, and reviews, try www.asiarooms.com, www.res24.com or www.sawadee.com
Good luck and enjoy

Nana Hotel next to Nana Plaza in Bangkok is good for the price; most of the amenities you'd find in a more expensive hotel are included in the price. It is girl friendly and has a good sized pool. I stayed there only once but I liked it. There are pricier hotels a lot closer to the Skytrain but I like this location as it about 20 meters from Nana Plaza, and a 6 minute walk to the Skytrain. Penthouse Hotel in Pattaya is decent for the price; it offers a lot of amenities plus more than Nana Hotel. I've stayed there until recently as I wanted a change of environment. The best feature of this hotel is the club on the first floor (there are six (?) floors) where you can call from your room and have the Kitten sent to your room for activities (up to you!). Also, the restaurant is 24/7 and it offers both Thai and Western dishes. The b'fast buffet is decent to fill your tummy but is time constrained. I just tried to pull up the website and it is not functioning well; it does give prices for their rooms. If you want less expensive hotels both locations have many.

Since you don't mention your budget or the area you want to stay in, you might want to check websites like asiarooms.com, hoteltravel.com or sawasdee.com, they have lots of reviews and ratings with hotels in all price ranges.
Probably the two best hotels in Bangkok are The Oriental and The Peninsula both located on the river, with The Peninsula being better value for the money. Both would impress anybody.

The oriental sure fits the bill on all counts. Your Thai hottie will not leave the room, ever.

I found a Condo to live in when I went to Bangkok. It was cheaper and nicer than a hotel.

The Oriental? You wont get her past the front door !! Same goes for the Peninsular. Simply because you are not married and they will think she's a hooker. ( and thats a real possibility)
