believe it or no longer, a retired racing greyhound. They front room almost all day, save for a pair of lifelike walks which all people could take besides, and consistent with possibility a sturdy fling around a tennis court docket a pair of times a week. in any different case, a Greyhound is the appropriate better half for a quiet grownup in small residing areas - plus, you do no longer could lean all the way down to pat them ;-) Do seem into the rescue - they're the sweetest, maximum docile canines ever, and the main comical. they are no longer barkers - I surely have time-commemorated a bunch of all of them owned with the help of seniors or families with young ones, and that they are stunning. in case you quite desire some thing small, a Lhasa Apso is relaxing - yet they do desire a playmate, and their bark is surely LOUD!!! an incredible Bichon Frise or Pekingnese or a Shih Tzu is additionally good alternatives - they're all bred to be lap canines and companions - yet additionally they could be groomed each 6-8 weeks, and which could be costly. Maltese are amazing, yet no longer in basic terms yap, they could be brushed continuously. And toy canines have a tendency to have enormous personalities - that could each so often backfire. it surely relies upon upon what style you're searching for - please despite the fact which you get, seem for that breed's rescue - there are various canines obtainable that would have been left in the back of for no fault of their very own, and you do no longer could initiate with a domestic dog. it relatively is definitely difficulty!

As long as they're given a great amount of exercise, any dog can be a "urban" dog.
I have a Pit Bull in a Studio. She gets the exercise she needs.
Although some breeds need an INCREDIBLE amount of exercise, including working/herding/hunting breeds.
I'm sure ANY shelter dog would love to live with you and be your lap dog :)

Really depends on you and how much time and energy you have to devote to the dog. Dogs are pack animals and they want to be with you; some more that others. Poodles are VERY 'velcro', but you either have to pay to have them groomed or learn to do it yourself. (you CAN, I do and mine looks wonderful!) The upside is that they don't shed or smell very 'doggy'.Go to www.dogbreedinfo.com and take their little quiz. It will help. Then go to www.petfinder.com to find your new best friend!!

going to the humane society is a great place. Not can you find small, adorable doggies, but they are in NEED of a loving home!
Give your local humane society a call and let them know what you are looking for and I am sure they will be more than happy to let you know if there are any little pooches that need a home. I got my 15lbs dog (who is very much a lap dog) from the shelter and I wouldn't trade him for ANY pure-bred dog!
GOOD LUCK! :-)

A mature dog will be a better fit and any reasonable size with a mild temperament should work. Go to your local shelter or rescue and let them help you make a match for your lifestyle since they usually know the dog's temperament of personaility. Try petfinder.com

Bully breeds love to snuggle. Except for the French bulldog, most are too big for laps, but that doesn't stop them from getting into your lap. My American bulldog loves to snuggle. There's nothing like 115lbs bulldog snuggles. Big dogs need love and snuggles too.

Depends - how much exercise are you willing to give it? How often are you home? How much grooming are you willing to do? Do you have small children? Other pets?
Start reading about different small dog breeds and investigate the ones further that fits your life best. And don't forget to look in your local shelter.

I love my Chihuahua. She is sooo sweet. she loves to cuddle and is always on my lap. My sister has a pug that is very sweet. She also loves to cuddle. It really depends on your preference and where you live, how much exercise...
