Ive just got my 1st treadmill not long ago and i find that when i run i can only do around 10 - 15 mins on speed 5 but if i walk fastly on speed 5 or 5.5 i can do around 35 mins and im burning more calories walking.
Am i still benefiting from using the treadmill though?

Yes your definatly benefiting. In time you'l probably start running too the more you do it. I started off by walking and the more i dont it the easier it became, i run about 7 mles on them now when i train.

Just be using the treadmill you will be benefiting. The best thing to do as a beginner is start at a level you are comfortable with and try to gradually build up. Avoid training for more than an hour at a time, as this significantly increases the risk of injury.

My trainer told me it was better to walk and raise the heartbeat for longer than run and only do a short time. I walk on the flat for 10 mins then raise the elevation for 5 mins, I continue like this until I have done enough.
