technically you aren't a bodybuilder until you are standing on stage for a competition, after the first show (it may be the 1st and last) then you are officially labeled as a bodybuilder.
now "bodybuilding" is training specifically to increase muscle size and improve symmetry, etc. bodybuilding is all about the diet, it's 80% of the equation. going to the gym and training heavy is easy, consuming 5-7 meals day for months and years on end is not. it's the dedication to diet that separates the big guys from the not so big guys in the gym as there are no secret training routines or magic exercises.

It's the diet that makes a bodybuilder. Your average athlete just doesn't have the self discipline to get his BMI down to bodybuilder levels even if he is a total gym rat.
