We are all individuals with distinct personalities. Some who possess a sense of humor come off a little harsh, while others tend to be a joy to be around. We are who we are......and no, it's not a sin to have a sense of humor. Wouldn't it be awful if we were all alike? I can't imagine the world being as interesting as it is, if that were the case.

No its not a sin, the Bible is not meant to be taken literally anyway. We were placed on earth with free will and the freedom of choice, therefore, we have the ability to have a sense of humor. God would probly wish for us to keep in mind that we must treat others as we wish to be treated, but everyone can enjoy a little fun every now and then.

Of course not. The Gods have an enormous sense of humor and laugh uproariously. They can take a good joke and give a good joke as well. Just look at an aardvark to see their sense of humor, or a duck-billed platypus or any other strange thing that exists.

It is not a sin to have a sense of humor. Laughter is a wonderful glorious thing.
Humor at the expense of others (whether it be race, sex, theological beliefs, etc.) is not funny and only the juvenile simple minded folks will find that funny.
"Fools mock at making amends for sin, but goodwill is found among the upright." (Proverbs 14:9)
"She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come" (Proverbs 31:25)
"Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving." (Ephesians 5:4)
There are plenty of scriptural references to joy, praise, and fellowship; therefore, there will be a lot of humor, for how else can one express joy without smiling.
When it is mocking someone it is not humorous.

Judging from the scathing hateful email I got last night from a Christian who didn't like the answer I posted to your Jesus/Car/Date question, I'd say definitely yes, it is a sin. I guess I'm going straight to hell. Oh well.....it could be worse, I could have ended up in heaven with all "those" people.

My dear sweet child,
Perhaps that page was ripped out of your book. It is clearly written on page 816 of The Holy Bible that:
"Thouest shall not laugh, smile, smirk, or utter a funny word... ever! Or else thouest shall burn in the firey fires of Hell and damnation .... forevermore, forevermore, forevermore ....!"
It is also well known that these Holy Words were also burned into a giant Hostess Twinkie....
Amen, my son!

The Bible is all about guilt, shame and self-deprecation. Anything that deviates from that is going to be called "sin" by somebody holding a Bible.

A sense of humor is not a sin unless it leads you to do something that is not funny to God. Coarse joking is a sin
