I will ask you this and you must think hard, if you want the true answer.
Are Atheists Questioning God or The Bible?
People will tell you that they are the same thing!
But your question has arisen inside them!
Do you really think that the words of men and a book written by men could ever represent the true God!
If you Lost your religion then would you not find your true faith!
And then maybe we could all live a lot happier together.
Maybe even the Atheists would find a little faith too.

It seems to me that many are saying that they need something to provide proof. i.e. A bible, a church, or a social group. Have would you survive in a desert without these things?

Lantern Bearer. Thank for your concern, I forgive your presumptuousness. I have listen in true silence and I have sent long periods in the desert, alone. With little food little water and no book! But I still have faith in good. and it is that which I seek and nothing more, for through good all else will follow.

I believe that atheists are questioning humankind. In particular, they are questioning humankind's intelligence. Their belief system (and it is a belief system) is built on the idea that god (or gods) is a construct created by man to cope
with the challenges of life here on earth.
In our immaturity, faith can be summarized with the following attitudes: Good happens - god must have willed it. Bad happens - I must have done something worthy of punishment. These views are black and white and immature in that they neglect all of the nuances of life. The belief of the atheist is, generally speaking, that believers in god (or gods) are in their immaturity and once humankind is intelligent and understands the nuances of life, there is no longer any need for a being that is thought of as god. That being the case, there is no afterlife. No heaven. No hell. Earth is all there is because there is no 'reasonably intellectual' basis to claim that there is anything more. For the atheist, 'faith' must be only in humankind. 'Salvation' is found in the redemption of humanity. 'Purpose' is found in the passing on of knowledge. 'Morality' is something that I define for myself and for those that are less intelligent than I. Personally, I stumble at faith in humankind. Please don't misunderstand me. There are a lot of perfectly lovely people in the world that are caring, compassionate, giving, and merciful who may or may not have faith in a divine being. However, there is sufficient evidence of people (again, with or without faith), that are bigoted, ignorant, malicious, conceited, obnoxious, and greedy. To put my faith in humankind means that I have to put my faith in them too. Ick.
Or, I could put my faith in a divine being. One that I call God. No, I do not believe that the Bible could ever truly represent God. Nor do I believe that the Bible = God. They are not the same thing. The Bible provides insight into the true nature of God. It shows his omnipotence, his omnipresence, his grace, his love, his kindness, his compassion, his justice, his virtue, his righteous indignation, and his desire for relationship with humankind. It also gives insight into why we are here, that there is an afterlife and what it will be like, the morality that we should have, and why we should show love and care to humankind (even when they don't deserve it and we don't feel like it). In this context, faith is relationship with God. The Bible is his love letter.
Faith and religion are not the same thing. Religion is a construct of rites, rituals, and ceremonies that are intended to reinforce, instruct, and edify faith. Unfortunately, oftentimes religion is an institutional corruption of faith. While often used synonymously, the words do not (and should not) have the same meaning. There are several times that I have lost religion and I am grateful for that. And yes, each time, I find more of my true faith. When I do, I see religion in a new light. When I see its failings, I work to make it better. When I see its strengths, I work to sustain them. What saddens me is that the failings have been stronger than the strengths for so long that there are many who have come in contact with religion with no faith and have been harmed. I believe that atheists are challenging this too. Religion with no faith is hypocrisy. When the arguments of the atheist are presented reasonably and with good substantiation, faith should not run in fear. The atheist is serving as a means of purifying faith. It's when the arguments are hostile and angry that the only thing being helped is the atheist's self-opinion.

When they question the Holy Bible, they question the True God Jehovah. His name is in every Bible at Psalms 83:18.
The Bible is the word of God Jehovah. Throughout 4000 years since the Bible's start, all of the prophecies foretold in the Holy Bible have come true.
Fact is that most people do not know that God has a name.
I am sure at the time of your judgment you will be asked a very simple question.
" What is God's name" ? If you reply ...Lord..wrong answer.
If you reply ...Alla...wrong answer.
If you reply " God " wrong answer.
Any answer other than " Jehovah " is wrong.
Read all John 17: 1-26 at verse 6
Jesus says: " I have made your name manifest to the men you have gave me"......
In the Ten Commandments one of the Commandments is:
Exodus 20: 2 I am Jehovah your God....3 " you must not have any other gods against my face."
Just know the 10 Commandments and who made them and more importantly why.
We are in the " Last Days " make good use of it and know who the True God is.
The Woodster
P.S.
No I am not a Jehovah's Witness. Just one who has read and learned allot. But I do believe that the Witnesses are as close to the true religion as anybody.

Theism is a construct of myth meant to hold the attention of the unschooled until they roll over and accept anything that is told them.
Atheism does not dismiss the possibility of greater power, it dismisses the construct of myth that has grown up around a perfectly reasonable moral code.
Scripture is a record of thoughts and ideas that stuck around long enough in oral history to be scratched in clay.
Finding a little faith, then, from your perspective is to accept "a little bit" of the myth as a reality?
The reality of spirit far exceeds the the current popular constructs of myth. The myth may mean something but it is a limited reflection of spirit.
Are you a moral loving person, or have you chosen a particular group to condemn and hold in low regard.
Are your behaviors and beliefs those of the Teacher or are they the constructs of the Roman State Church of Constantine.
I believe that you have far to go. You are asking questions, so there is hope. Your next goal should be to learn to listen in silence and with a quiet mind.
The arrival is never as good as the journey.

their is more to God then what you perceive and read. his Measures go even beyond the bible.
about Atheists I do not know, I'm not one. and I will not presume to know, otherwise I would entrap myself in a lie of deceit,
I have lost my faith time and time again, but each time I was not able to completely let go and when I came back I became stronger within it. Paul even said sometimes it is good to lose your faith for such purposes. Religion is a thriving place for fanatics, and Fundamentalists and the gatherings only purpose is for encouragement in the faith. the rest is up to you. weather you are part of a church or not is no guarantee that you will be saved nor condemned. their will be those who are saved that have not stepped foot in a church and their will be those who are condemned and went to a church all their life, this my friend is the truth. about a Atheist, their is always something to learn from any person no matter what faith, to reject the knowledge they have is foolish, because with knowledge comes much power, and makes you stronger. to refuse the knowledge of one just because the faith is different or they have no faith is very dogmatic and ungodly. King Solomon even examined other faiths but kept his faith true to God, sadly he eventually turned but learned alot about other faiths and nature. I believe we should do the same but learn from Solomons mistake and know where we stand which is with God.
Oh yea Solomon did come back to God.

The Word of God is an introduction to God Himself. He wants us to read the book, time and again, so that we can try to understand what His purpose is for this world and for us. After all, we don't see Jesus walking on this earth. Those days are gone. But we have the Word of God. If people don't believe the Word, how would they believe in the Person?
So yes, the written words represent the true God Himself.

When I went to a Christian church, I liked the music. When I go to a non traditional (New Thought) church, I often get a lot out of the sermon, not so much with the Christian church. Sometomes the music in New Thought churches sux, but the words have a good spiritual meaning.

Just like we need books to learn at school, we need the Bible to learn about God and life. God is gracious enough to tell us how we came about and why there is sin and why we all need a savior. The Bible is written by men who were inspired by God. Religion is made by man, not God.

Athiests don't believe in God, so how could they believe the bible is the "word" of God? In other words, if Stephen King never existed, then he couldn't have written all those books, could he?

Atheists are in rebellion to God, like nearly everyone else.
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
