I'm going with meditation but.....did ya see that one coming? lol....enlightenment exists in all of us, it's the discovery that makes it more apparent. That's my opinion anyways.

Meditation is but part of the path. This must be combined with all aspects of the path outlined by Buddha. Right lively hood, right thought, and taking refuge in the buddhist community are more of the suggested elements. His Holiness the Dahli Llama has written many books on the topic. The Dharma padha, which are the teachings of Buddha, is great reading.

Meditation on the question, "Who Am I?"
First discarding who I am not:
I am not the gross body, not the five cognitive senses of hearing, touch, sight, taste, and smell which apprehend their respective objects: sound, touch, color, taste, and odor.
I am not the five sense-organs: speech, locomotion, grasping, excretion, and procreation, which have as their respective functions: speaking, moving, grasping, excreting, and enjoying (loving).
I am not the five vital airs, prana, etc., which perform the five functions of in-breathing.
I am not the mind which thinks.
I am not the nescience which is endowed only with the residual impressions of objects, and in which there are no objects and no functionings.
After negating all of the above, all that remains is Awareness, that I am.
The nature of awareness is existence-consciousness-bliss.
When the world which is what-is-seen has been removed, there will be realization of the Self which is the seer.
There will not be realization of the Self while the world is taken as real.

of those listed I would go for meditation followed by lucid dreaming. The aim what ever method you use is to truly understand and be one with yourself; the positive and the negative and accept them all as an equal part of who you are. As we are all a part of the universe by doing this you will become one with the universe too and achieve enlightenment.

None of the above.
Go to the subcontinent of India.
Find a guru...a real one.
Study under the direction of that guru.
Be prepared for years of discipline and
austerities (sic?).
Be aware that (per the life history of one
who was supposed to have achieved enlightenment...a fellow named Milrepa (sic?))...that it can be painful.

None of the above for me. I just read a lot and ask a lot of questions. :) My best experiances with the gods is popping a beer, sacrificing some of it the gods and just talking. *shrug

Sit zazen. Zazen is enlightenment, it is not something that needs to be attained. Enlightenment is.

Find your own way. I can't walk your path for you. I'm still walking mine.
