I went to see my doctor for anxiety attacks I have been having lately. Pretty bad pressure in chest, nausea, headaches, blurred vision at times-- he sent me to the lab for some blood work.
What is he looking for? Why order blood tests when it is clearly stress related (I know this for a fact...lot's of family drama...) Should I be worried (even more worried?).

If it is for probable medicinal purposes, what types of medication could I be looking at? Has anyone taken any? Should I go the medication route?

he is likely getting baseline lab values, some medications have to be tracked because of potential side effects and blood tests are used to do it.

Because stress may only be a symptom of something deeper (that will reflect in blood work). Also, if the doctor is going to prescribe any drugs, it's better to know how your body may react based on certain levels of things in your blood. It's more of a "just in case" to help them with (educated) guessing what it may be that is affecting you and/or how it may be affecting you and how to best treat it.

If you're worried that they may be looking for something in particular, ask your doctor if he was looking for something in particular. Good luck!

He is looking at your chemical balances such as thyroid levels which at times is all that is wrong.Or it is just a lack of a chemical serotonin.Which was the case for me my thyroid was fine.I would also recommend getting this book "From Panic To Power."Helped me loads. Now I do not take meds and the only time I try to have panic attacks is driving long distances.
