Rampant insanity
We took a stable, although subjugated society, and turned it into an unstable dependant !!
Junior was told -- that if he took invasion as a course of action -- it would destablize the region for decades -- it didn't matter -- he had a family fued to settle !!
Now, we -- and them that are there -- are paying the high cost of "vandetta" !!
But, to speculate that this will EVER end -- is, in itself, lunacy -- For it is -- and never has been the intent of this government to Leave Iraq --- The sheer pyshical evidence of this is more than apparent to anyone looking at the situation closely at all !! ------ The half BILLION dollar "Embassy" they are building there -- should be a monumental CLUE as to this FACT !!

Full civil war between the Sunni and the Shites; the Kurds would get involved because the don't trust either group but the Sunni's were the ones with the upper hand under Saddam Hussein. If the Sunni's started winning Iran would get involved for religious reasons, if the Shite starting winning the Syrians would get involved because they do not want a Shite nation with ties to Iraq sitting on there border and if the Kurds managed to stay neutral who ever won would then attack them because they have large oil reservoirs-the Turks may get involved at that point because they get oil from the Kurds and do not want a Shite radical neighbor nor do they want Syria or Iraq getting that powerful. Really would be civil war and then chaos; in short a blood bath for all involved.

The easy answer is chaos. But to really understand you have to know about the country, the region and the people. Iraq has Kurds,Sunni, and Shia. The Kurds in the north would want to join with the Kurds in Southern Turkey and northern Iran and form a new country "Kurdistan". The Shia would be heavily influenced by the Shia in Iran. The Sunni would be fighting for their lives to keep all of this from happening and the terrorist would be having a field day because no one would be fighting to stop them . Chaos breeds more chaos.
People say we should pull out and we would save American lives but I truly feel by being there we are saving American lives. We are taking the fight to them instead of waiting to be attacked.
If we pull out the country would be torn apart and Iran would have tremendous influence over the oil as would Syria. Kuwait would become unstable as well as Saudi Arabia. Iran could launch rockets toward Israel from inside Iraq and Jordan would get their chance to hit them as well. In short, the entire Middle East could become a war zone with Iran being in control of most of the regions oil.
That is just the start of the overall problems that would ensue after the U.S. pulled out . The other effects on commerce, humanity, and environment would be a list to long to number.

Probably the civil war they have over there would worsen but it would have a chance of stabilizing afterwards as other muslim nations laid proxy claims on Iraq's riches and brought about peace for interest's sake. Unfortunately, there's too much money buried in Iraq for anyone to let them develop proper. A strong man will come, backed by a strong foreign power. If the US leaves though, at least the terrorism incidents will significantly lessen, the population will have a chance to heal and we in the US won't have to sell our organs to the Chinese to pay the war debt we have incurred on this military "adventure".

The UK just withdrew from Basra and violence immediately fell by 90% - - though only, I think, because the extremists know that if they really misbehave the power is still there to get em back in line.
Same around Baghdad; take away the foreign troops and there would be less for the extremists to whine about. But keep the troops close by to make the point that there is force if needed.

Their country would collapse into a civil war and be over run with Iranian terrorists.
Of course if they could set up a non corrupt government and police force it would help fight off the terrorists and have a stable government.
And best of all. All the people crying about how the US should mind our own business would start crying for us to go back over there and help the "innocent" Iraqi people. If we go people complain we should mind our own business. If we don't go people will complain that we don't like those people (fill in race, religion, etc).

Civil war. now or later unless a very strong leader is in place.
You can't change a power base and expect it to stay with out help. Personally i doubt anyone wants to commit troops for the next 20- 40+ years

Well if you are talking about if the US and its allies was to pull out of Iraq, turmoil will erupt even more than it is now, all the militia groups will move in again and take over.
but if your are talking about if the US was to leave Iraq then, not much will change as all its allies are still there, but it will slowly fall to pieces militia will slowly regroup.

The Sunnis and Shiites would be at one anothers' throats, as they have been for years and will probably be for many more. The U.S. can't make hatred of that sort disappear, as much as we try.
What else would happen? No more U.S. troops would be killed over there. And we have enough of a new generation resenting our presence over there; pulling out now would at least not make the damage any worse.
I can't wait to see the thumbs-down I get for this one. ;-)
