They'll be hanging just under the window not to the floor. Please choose either one (no one really cares how much anyone else loves a polka dotted velvet sash skewn over a curtain rod as a valance, but no offense). lol. Thank you.

It's an older place with a country "down home" feeling kitchen... I'm leaning towards pocket, but I'm afraid because I've only ever made tabs.... *winces*

Tab have that down home country kinda feel.

Rod pockets are less trendy though. They will still be 'in style' ten years from now (if that makes a difference)

I have rod pocket curtains in my Tuscany style kitchen.

I personally prefer the curtain rod pocket ones for the kitchen. I really love my neighbor's curtains (I know I know, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's goods) but they are yellow with squares and they gather about halfway down the window. And she has the Germany hanging decorations for fall in the middle of the window. It sounds kinda weird on paper, but it's really pretty.

For the kitchen, a rod pocket. I like the tap tops for a den or a boy's bedroom (tho I have red ones in my bedroom and I'm not a boy!)

I've always preferred tab top curtains, regardless of where they're hung.

I prefer tabtop, but it depends on the window, the fabric, and the style of the kitchen decor.
