PUT HIM ON IT. HE DOESNT NEED TO SIGN IT, MAYBE IT WILL WORK OUT FOR YOU TWO.

My friend was in the same situation. If you take him to court to rule out paternity, if he doesn't show 4 times, he is automatically listed on the birth certificate as the father, if he is tested, then obviously you will get him on the cert, it's not just important for Child Support, but also in case of any medical conditions or concerns later on in the babies life. Good luck and hope everything goes okay.

I don't know about New York but in California the father does not have to sign the birth certificate. My oldest child's father didn't sign the birth certificate but he is listed as her father on the birth certificate.

Actually you can put him as the father on the birth certificate, I would also start the process through the courts to collect child support. The simple fact is, He is the father rather he wanted it or not. It's not the childs fault. The man should keep his pants on next time. Listen to your father, specially if he is a lawyer.

Seriously, consult a lawyer. But why give him the privelige of being listed as the father when he doesn't want to be? You can still get child support without him being listed. You just have to get a DNA test and then take it to child support office. In GA I believe you can't even list the father if he doesn't sign but maybe i'M WRONG ABOUT THAT. GOOD LUCK. AND CONGRATS ON THE BABY. CHILDREN ARE BLESSINGS FROM GOD.

When I had my baby , because he was not there when I signed the Birth Certificate and we where not married, they would not put his name on the Birth Certificate. We had to pay $ 40 dollars at the court house to add his name. You can have the child have his last name though, you don't need to have him sign for that.

i live in Upstate NY and i have a 3 year old whos father also left me and they told me at the hospital i could still put his name on the birth certificate it just wouldnt be signed by him... then you can take him to court for child support and he has no choice but to pay it even if he doesnt want to be in the childs life they will establish paternity and he will have to pay for that also... all you have to do is put his name on the certificate than go to the courts and file a petition good luck

honey i have had 2 men run out on me, they didn't want their boys either and i can tell you that you can give the hospital his name and let them know that he doesn't want anything to do with the baby,i did the same thing. they will give you a paper that saz the baby was born to your name and the fathers name on such day of the month and the year.it will not show that their is a father on the birth certificate. but you will have to ask your hospital they can tell you how they do it for sure, butts that's how it is done where i live.and you will have to probably go and pay for your child's birth certificate anyways and the one that has the self rising seal will not have his name on there. hope that i was of some help to you. but i just don't understand why you would even want his name on there anyways he doesn't want the baby so give the baby your last name and raise that precious baby on your own. good luck to you and your baby to be.....

Well you cant list him against his will what you can do is get an order of filiation from the court when you file for child support and if he denies the baby they are going to do a dna test and take it from there. Other than that he cannot be listed as the father unless he willingly sign the acknowledgement of paternity.

why you want to do that, he is a reptile that nothing wants to do with your baby, I don't think you can list him as the father against his will, you would have to ask for a dna test and go to court, that way easy he would sign as the father and child support, but my question is how you feel that he doesnt want to be part in your baby's life? in the future your baby will know, that he is around because HE HAS TO, not because he feels it, besides I think want you want is a father for your baby and it is understandable, but if this is not your case, give to your baby a strong mother, and when she/he grows up will see all the wonderful her mother is, teach your baby a big lesson of live, how a mother can be so strong and do everything for their babies, don't do this because you are angry or upset because he left you, he left and he wont come back, good luck

He has to sign it to be listed on the birth certificate. Have them do a dna test and then get his name put on the birth certificate. He sounds like a jerk! I would make him pay child support!
