Yes and yes.
Catholics have been casting out demons ever since Jesus and the Apostles did it.
Modern psychology says that most of the people who had demons cast out of them were probably miraculously cured from schizophrenia and other mental illnesses. But their cures were still miracles.
The Catholic Church believes that real demonic possessions are rare but possible, so they keep a few exorcists around just in case.
The Church has guidelines in place to take great care to exhaust psychological options before calling in an exorcist.
For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, sections 1673: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt2sect2chpt4.htm#1673
Anglicanism, several Protestant denominations, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons), Judaism, Hinduism, Scientology, and Islam also practice some kind of exorcism. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exorcism

As a Catholic ..... sure, they're practiced, yet: a million) in user-friendly terms after scientific reasons, alongside with a psychological reasons have been ruled out or the signs and indications are soo glaring (think of Epic Hollywood point possessions) that a scientific or psychological wellness subject concerns are patently no longer the reason. 2) in user-friendly terms monks who're especially experienced in this style of non secular war can carry out it, and exorcisms are no longer something that's a factor of the Priest's universal seminary training. The Church does no longer pass around classifying each and every ordinary habit as "demon possession" so the church realizes they're very uncommon. Secondly, i've got heard Excorcists admit that there is usually a grey section between is this scientific or psychological, or is it non secular. Even the professionals the two medical doctors and monks can now and back mis diagnose a topic. that's consistently problematical whilst coping with people. ultimately, that's coming from the Catholic church.. the main important non-governmental provider of wellness Care interior the international, with over a million,000 hospitals and clinics under its belt and centuries of adventure helping to therapy the ill. together as modern-day technology would possibly no longer formally admit Demon possession occurs. the incontrovertible fact that one among those massive employer that's heavily in contact in wellness Care and employs tens of 1000's of medical doctors, believes that on occasion it does nonetheless ensue.. that should carry some weight and not be particularly omitted. As a Catholic, the logical fringe of me struggles with believing it..yet then if all people can say that they ensue with a on the instant face and be considered credible.. i think of it would ought to be the Catholic church.

Yes demonic possession does happen... a lot more than any one wants to admit.... and yes the Roman Catholics still do exorcisms... but unless the priest is actualy of The True Christian Faith it will not work... most of the priests of the Roman catholics are not of The True Christian Faith. The Church is made up of all of those of The True Christian Faith. Only those of The Church have The Authority of God to command demons. And only one very strong in The Faith should even be present when a true exorcism is performed. Any, not of The Church, present when a demon is cast out are in danger of that demon entering them.
Those of The Church, those of The True Christian Faith, may not be possessed by demons. Those who belong to God fully are of God and demons can not possess them... but... ones of The Church may be harmed by demons in other ways.

as a matter of fact demonic possessions are real. but the best way to write it will be posseded by a demon, and yes catholic church still does it.. but from experience i can tell you that it happends in many many ways. i'll give you an example..
at my church about a year ago there was this guy,, this is his story,, when he was still a baby his mother dedicated him to the devil,, and all his life he was into witch caraft and things like that. well to make the story short, on time at a servise he started to act really wierd right, so my pastor and everybody at church were interciding for him. he had soo many demons, and he would talk so omuch differently, and the demons will talk to the person who is ding the exorsisim. but here is the point is the possesed person does not want to be free from it, then those demons won't go away no matter how much to tell them to leave.
i am not catholic, i am a chirstian so we do things very differently from those catholics,, because catholics forced them to,, and they sure make it seem evil,,,
they all wont be ohh i'm lucifer,, kind of possetions,, they can also be adultary, guilt, witchcraft, jelousy, fornication, lust,,ect.

1. I have no official opinion on that. But I feel that it's highly unlikely. Demon possession was often cited as the reason behind dementia, mental illness, or seizure disorders before people knew enough to diagnose those things correctly.
2. Yes, the Catholic church still practises exorcisms. But it is very rare. It's interesting to note that the Catholic Rite of Exorcism was updated as recently as 1999. So, yes, it's still there.

Demonic possessions are possible depending on your religious or personal point of view. Most psychiatrists do not believe that is possible, while in many religions that is not only likely, it is possible.
The Catholic Church do practice exorcisms, although, for some reason they have been claiming that such practice is no longer done.

No there are no demons. Just spirits trying to come through. I believe the Catholic Church does practice exorcisms. Other denominations perform the ritual too but maybe in a different way.

No one on this site or any other can say with any degree of certainty whether or not demonic possesion is possible - theist or atheist. The catholic church not only still performs the rite of exorcism it has seen a marked increase in the number of requests since the early 70's. Hinduism and Islam also perform exorcism rituals.

"Possession" isn't necessarily a "demon" as the Church puts forth, however there are beings in what we Buddhists call the formless realm and certain beings may not be necessarily altruistic and have much of a care of what's happening to us. The Catholic Church still does exorcisms, however they do not have the "market" totally covered on it. They took a lot of good information from the pagans and the ways they chased out beings who messed around here from the formless realm and stuck their own dubious "copywrite" on it.
If you're in doubt, study various pagan rites and/or shamanistic rites of the same.
