My daughters friend asked me if I take prozac? I answered no. And asked her why? She said because my mom takes it all the time whenever shes in a bad mood. I've heard of it, but really don't know anyone that takes it or what it's prescribed for?

Prozac is an antideppresant that needs to be prescribed by a doctor. If you want to know more about it, then type it into Google and read about it at RxList.com or a reputible website.
People don't take it just when they are in a bad mood...like for that one bad day. It's taken daily to keep a certain amount of the medication in your blood. It won't work if her mom takes it just on bad days. It's not an upper or mood enhancer.
The youngdter is probably not real clear about what her mom is taking.
