Im bored of the my mums avocardo and prawn salad so ive offered to make the starter this year, there are lots of options out there but whats your favourite or what would you advise?

If you go to the major food sites (Krafe, Betty Crocker, General Mills, Pillsbury, Campbell's Kitchen, they all have hundreds of appetizer selections to choose from in different categories, hot, cold, finger food, dips, you name it, they have it.......give them a shot......Enjoy!!!

Here is a great Christmas pudding recipe:- RECIPE DETAILS Prep time:20min Cook time:1hr 50min Difficulty:Medium Cuisine:British Ingredients 250g fresh breadcrumbs 50g ground almonds 1g salt 8g ground mixed spice 100g dark brown soft sugar 100g chopped dried figs 225g flaked almonds 100g pine kernels 100g chopped dates 100g currants 100g sultanas 225g raisins 100g chopped peel 100g finely grated carrot 50g finely grated cooking apple 100g soft unsalted butter Finely grated zest and juice 1 large lemon 100g runny honey 3 medium eggs beaten 58g scrumpy or dry cider Preparation 1. Place the breadcrumbs, almonds, salt, spice, sugar, figs, pinenuts, dates, currants, raisins, sultanas, candied peel, apple and carrot, in a large bowl and mix together 2. Add the cider and lemon juice and mix well. 3. Cream the butter with the lemon rind and honey and mix well. 4. Add the eggs and mix well, then add the soaking ingredients and really mix well. 5. Place into a 1kg cooking bowl, cover and steam for 3 1/2 hours. 6. When cooked, cool and cover well. and for a starter how about Goats cheese salad, which is goats cheese placed on a bed of lettuce and tomatoes and served with a tomato or red onion relish... enjoy and Happy Christmas

I like a room temperature block of bleu cheese, next to a block of cheddar cheese. Then, some little toasts or crackers, bunches of grapes and apple slices.

Last year I made a butternut squash soup - nice and creamy and delicious. It was a big hit and more festive than a salad.
