We don't know do we? That's why honest people say "I don't know", and the rest say "gods, god, goddesses, deities" etc...

Some people just don't like not knowing stuff...so they fill in the gaps with superstition and 'personal god' interpretations until knowledge increases.

Most of the prominent atheists you hear from these days have a sheer hatred for a God they don't even believe in.

It seems conflicting to me.

I guess I didn't answer your question, but your question just adds to the questions I have about atheism.

Because if there was nothing, you would not be here to speculate about why there is something. That is as much as we know. Once we get an answer, we'll send you a fax...until then, anyone who "knows" is only guessing...

Who knows. There just is something. If there was nothing, then there would be nothing to know there is nothing. Since there is something, we know there isn't nothing.

Your question makes no sense to someone who doesn't believe in a creator of our universe. There is no "why".
Was this actually what you wanted to ask, or did you have another question/goal in mind?

You're SOMETHING is actually NOTHING. That's what makes you a nihilist.

There would have to be, wouldn't there? Otherwise, you wouldn't be here asking this question.
