I was wondering where in the Bible is the Christmas Story or the story of Jesus birth. I am wanting to read it to my children this year so that they will know why we celebrate Christmas. Any help would be great.

We read it each year also. We have a book that has some pretty paintings to go along with each passage ... the younger ones enjoy the pictures as well as the story. There are so many nice products out there.

Enjoy!

very good story, this is one that was posted last Christmas on this forum, and i saved it. A Pit Bull's Christmas T'was the night before Christmas and the shelter is dark, The whole place is silent, not even a bark. The dogs are all locked in their pens for the night, The staff has gone home and turned out the light. As I lay my head down on the cold concrete floor, I fondly recall the home I had before. The family I loved, who loved me right back, We'd share everything -- from secret to snack. Things couldn't be better at this time last year, But that has all changed and now I am here. I won't see the tree, the lights, or the snow, I'm scared and alone, my spirits are low. The others like me weren't put up for adoption, A new family and home, for us aren't an option. We've been locked up in cells as if we're all crooks, We don't deserve homes because of our looks. Not Diesel, or Bingo, or the young one named Percy, Deserve to be loved nor shown any mercy. While families celebrate holiday cheer, I know in my heart that my end is near. The vet will arrive, the lights will go on, By the time you awake, we all will be gone. A stranger will come and take me away, I'll never wake to see another day. As I close my eyes I'll shed you a tear, The fond memories I'll always keep near. The only thing I've ever asked of Santa Claus, Is to stop all these unfair and ridiculous laws. You said without me, your life was not full, So why does it matter that I'm a "pit bull"? In my dream Santa shouts when he's finished his deed, * "MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL...REGARDLESS OF BREED"!

The Christmas story can be found in The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 2:1 - 15, and also in Luke 2. :)

Well the story of Jesus' life is in the book of Matthew. Although the Christmas story is not in the bible. Jesus was not born on Dec 25th. and the wise men were not there when he was born. The Magi, who were sent by King Herod, who wanted to kill Jesus, did not find him until he was about 2 hrs old. And by the time they found him they no longer wanted to turn him in to King Herod, so they just kinda disappeared

Let me e-mail you the scripture in the children's version of NIV and you can read it to them. It is the NIrV translation and very close to the Greek. My son has studied Greek since 1980 continuously and he is often called for help with translating. He says in this case, this is a very good translation.

It is the first chapters of Matthew and Luke.

Matthew Chapter 1, verse 18 through the end of the 2nd Chapter. Such a beautiful passage.

Here, and have a blessed Holiday.

heres the real Christmas story:

the three kings (the three stars on Orion's belt) "follow" (point toward) the star of the east (Sirius) to find the king (the SUN) when he is born on the 25th of December. The king (the SUN) dies (on the 21st the solstice, where it is the shortest day of the year) is dead for 3 days (does not rise above the place where the sun was on the 21st) and on the last day is "reborn" (raises up 1 degree signaling the beginning of longer days). its all astrology. look to the east on the morning of December 25 before dawn and i PROMISE you will see the three stars of Orion's belt point to Sirius and if you follow the line they make, the sun will rise directly at the point where the horizon meets that line. GUARANTEED

You know...a lot of the customs of Christmas we celebrate today come from European pagan traditions. The Roman Catholic Church put Christmas in December so it could mask the original December Yule celebrations of pagan times.
