I think that people have been trying to rewrite the original 10 for thousands of years and still haven't come up with any that work as well and are as simple as the original. It's kind of like joining a football team and then rewritting all the rules to suit your fancy. If ain't broke.. don't fix it :)

America cannot be saved by the 10 Commandments, but only by the atoning blood of Christ.
And the "old" 10 Commandments are just fine. They are a description of God's character, and they never change.
You cannot force someone who isn't saved to obey God's Law. It doesn't work that way. There has to be a change of heart first. Then, once you are saved, you are expected to obey God.

1. Thou shall adhere to the separation of Church and State
2. Thou shall not recklessly invade countries for their oil

I think just those two would solve a lot of problems.

actually, the original 10 commandments would work a lot better if people would follow them.
If we followed the 10 commandments from the Old Testament, noone would lie, noone would hate anyone else, noone would be envious of other peoples belongings, noone would commit adultery, noone would steal..........
That would mean honest and accountable politicians and virtually no crime. Police could still direct traffic at construction sites, which is what they do best anyway.
