If I am subconsciously looking for the wrong guys, then who should I look for?

Perhaps I should never try the attractive set. But if I keep getting rejected by anyone at least marginally cute. What the hell am I doing wrong? How do I just go up to a guy? I never learned any of this since I spent ages studying instead of partying.

people tell me I can't be picky and need to take what I get...which is depressing and I'd rather be alone.

You are looking at the superfluous. How "cute" a man is, is of little importance. What you need to define in your own head is attractiveness. What features do you find attractive in a man? Should he be more like a little boy or more like an adult? Should he be exciting and unpredictable (which can also mean shallow and untrustworthy) or more reserved (which can sometimes be rather boring).

I guess the biggest difference is in what you are looking for a guy for. Do you want someone to have fun and party with? Or do you want a mate and a lifelong commitment? Many women make the mistake of hooking up with one and expecting the other. Leads to a lot of divorces.

You look like a pretty girl with a nice smile and eyes. If I were younger and single you would not have to worry about asking me out, I would be pursuing you!

Believe it or not, the problem is that you are actively looking. The natural order of things is that the man chases the woman. So, when you go up to a guy, he subconsciously thinks you're desperate and you are immediately at his mercy. What you should do instead is look your absolute best when you go out and let them come to you. If he approaches you, half the battle is won because you already know he's interested. If you're focusing entirely on looks, then your long-term gains aren't going to be that great regardless of what you look like. Don't even worry about scoring a date; just keep striking up conversations and see where they go. When the chemistry's there, you don't need a specific plan of action.

Well you should be somewhat picky...you want a guy that is going to be respectful of you...caring...genuine etc....Dont settle for less than that...So i dont agree with your friends "dont be picky"

I think it's great that you are picky. It depends on where you are finding these men. At a bar? Good luck. Try a dating service, that way you can tell if they are as interested in you as you are in them.

ok, what i always tell my friends is that you are a frickin' princess and you gotta let your prince, find you. it wont hurt as much, trust me. waiting might hurt, but its "safer". you only have one heart and every time you go out with someone, they get a peice of your heart and you never ever get it back again, so be careful, hun.
