Doctors out there, why Antabuse is not prescribed in North America?

It seems to be used more in Europe.

It is prescribed in North America, still. I knew someone who took some and he drank ( the idiot ) and got deathly ill. It's suppose to stop alcoholics from drinking, but i guess he learned his lesson. :-)

Antabuse is often prescribed in North America, don't know where you got your information, but I personally know many people using that medication to effect relief from alcoholism.
