I have 2 cats and a dog and my boyfriend is very allergic... I am looking for something that is nondrowsy and will last for a while? Thanks

Without a prescription, Claritin is generally the most effective non-drowsy antihistamine. With a prescription, Zyrtec, followed by Allegra seem to be popular.
Other things that help are to use a vacuum with a HEPA filter (Eureka Boss upright is an example), and to use a humidifier in winter to keep humidity around 20%. Cat dander becomes electrically charged at low humidities, which causes it to float around in the air.

I'm also allergic to cats and dogs. From my experience Benadyrl and Claritin are the best over the counter medications. The best prescription medication is Allegra. I never liked Zyrtec it always made me feel drowsy but everyone is different. Unfortunately, from my experience nothing helps 100% unless you stay clear of the pet dander which I know is hard to do sometimes. Good Luck!!

Rather than giving your boyfriend medicine, why don't you try taking control of the allergens produced by your pets? Allergy relief through allergy avoidance is quite effective.
achoo! Allergy has many allergy relief products, including ones designed specifically for pet owners. For instance, you can get pet cleansing wipes to clean your pets of fur and dander. HEPA vacuum cleaners also remove allergens from the environment, as do HEPA air purifiers.
