I have been in Army Jrotc for four years and I am a First Lieutenant. It teaches you leadership, discipline, courage, and motivation. It is a great way for you to get training in the military field you are looking for.If you really like jrotc then in college you will like ROTC and if you attend it you can recieve a commission as an officer which puts you in a leadership postion to make more money.I laid out what I wanted my mom to know about jrotc and how it could help me in the future or in the business world. If you attend JROTC for 2 or more years you get a certificate that states you could enter the military as an E-3 which puts you ahead of everyone in basic training and plus you will be making more money than they will.Sit down with an jrotc instructor and your mom so he can tell you what the benfits are.You have the drill team, colorguard team, raider team, and rifle team in Army JROTC.JROTC challenges you physically, mentally, and social wise.It is all about TEAMWORK!!!

At the high school level it stresses and teaches responsibility, discipline along with some some basic governement and military type history and also introduces you to other aspects of the military like proper wear of a uniform, and basic military customs and courtesies. At the college level you can earn a couple of college credits for it and it qualifies you in your Junior and Senior year to actually enlist in the inactive reserves I believe and also some financial assistance. In exchange you then go on into the military with a commision upon graduation and you have a shorter training period in Officer Training School (OTS) than those that have not gone through the ROTC program but have enlisted and qualify for a commision because of a college degree. It looks great on a resume and will give you some skills that you might not otherwise learn that can help you later on in your education and career even if you never join the military.

JR OTC is a substitute for P.E. It counts as a physical education credit. Most people who join this class, are looking for a way to get out of exercising, but to tell you the truth, running and doing push ups are what they do in this class. This is a preparation class for people who plan on going into the armed forces. It is a good idea to take this class if you are looking for a free way into college. After you complete your signed up time in the marines, the corporation will pay for your tuition. This is a way to persuade your mom and dad. Parents eat up the college stuff. Well to make a long answer short, all you do in the class is wear you green or "pickle suit" on specified days, according to your leader at your school, march and do drills, learn strict discipline guidelines, you are expected to follow, and do veterans day programs. Hope I provided helpful info :) Ooops! I almost forgot about military ball, which happens once a year for OTC students.
