I attended my first Hanukkah during a Bat Mitzvah celebration and had a wonderful time! I was re-invited to anther Bat Mitzvah but was wondering if it's okay or non-offensive for Non-Jewish people to participate in Jewish ceremonies.
I don't want to feel like I'm intruding or offending anyone.

Yes, just be careful with the candles and try to light them in the correct order.

I'm confused. Someone had their Bat Mitzvah on Hanukkah? I never heard of that. They are 2 different things. Hanukkah is a holiday and at Bat Mitzvah is a coming of age ceremony.

You dont have to be the same religion to attend a ceremony. I've gone to lots of catholic weddings and I'm not catholic.

I celebrate Chaunkkah ( This is the correct spelling of the holiday) with my husband & our children. He is Jewish and I am not! And he celebrates Christmas with me! Our children are being raised in both religons. When they are 18 they can choose which religon they want to practice.

It is up to you!!! I would ask the people you are celebrating with though! It may be offening to them. Ask them first! Then if it is OK then have a great day!

Sure. Have a good time. Hanukkah is just another religious holiday and is formatted in a particular ritualistic scheme. If anyone sees your behavior as offensive, then its their responsibility to avert their expectations.

Actually, Chanukkah isn't a mandated religious observance day, but a commemoration of the miracle/victory associated with the historical event.

There shouldn't be too much associated with it ritually.

according to risk my Catholic opinion does not count huge form, yet right here that's: i think of this is in basic terms patronizing and insulting while that's superficial, phony, and with none know-how of the holiday. maximum folk - such as rather some Jews, have not have been given any concept what this holiday is all approximately. i'm fortunate to be purely old adequate to have been an straight forward college pupil earlier each and all of the widespread politically ultimate nonsense have been given so efficient. I attended a public college in a medium-sized city that replaced into approximately 50% Catholic, 20% Lutheran, 20% Episcopalian, and 10% different protestant Christian. I knew in basic terms one Jew interior the completed city. fortuitously, she replaced into my 2nd grade instructor. She taught us all approximately Hanukkah, without protests or courtroom cases from everybody. We drew photos of Jewish symbols, we discovered a pair of dredel video games, and we had a menorah in our college room. We lit the menorah each and every day, with the right form of candles, and maximum young ones concept the full subject count replaced into beautiful. while we lit the menorah, in basic terms the instructor pronounced a prayer, yet while any youngsters had to wish together with her we've been welcome to take action. i think of none human beings easily discovered the prayers thoroughly, yet we form of tried to be taught them. We additionally had a Christmas tree and appropriate decorations interior the college room. each new child went domicile for Christmas holiday with a advantageous present of a dredel and a splash mesh bag full of "gelt" contained in this form of chocolate funds coated with gold foil. i think of that's tragic that interior the U. S. at present it would be surprisingly much impossible for a public college instructor to coach as properly as omit Hrnyshyn taught us. the college board may be swamped with courtroom cases approximately "separation of church and state" and spiritual freedom, and the only subject youngsters may be unfastened to do is stay blind to each and all of the failings they could be taught if human beings weren't so absurdly closed-minded to openly watching and gaining know-how of on the subject of the religious aspects of human subculture. i'm Roman Catholic. Peace be with you.

Well millions of non-christians celebrate Christmas so....but it is polite of you to consider others feelings. I'd say if you were invited back it's kosher...pun intended.
