Babies should never watch cartoons! Get some educational toys to stimulate their minds; that is much better than plopping them in front of the screen and leaving them to stare passively at it. My daughter really started watching around two years of age. I'd let her watch educational stuff for kids in addition to cartoons.

Cartoons cannot easily be RECOMMENDED for babies, but there are some things that can enhance the general experience of development.
The shows you choose to put on while your baby is in the room should be selected carefully. My baby LOVES books, but she also like Kidsongs DVD's, Barney and the new PBS show "SuperWhy." Some days we watch 3 hours of TV, of course WHILE PLAYING almost the whole time, with a little eating and readin in there.
Sometimes we watch NO TV. My baby responded to herself on YouTube when she was only 5 months, a Classical Baby video (produced by HBO) around the same age, and fell in love with Barney at 10 months.
But BOOKS, she's taken a noticeable interest from one month! Just teach her a lot and give her lots of love.

Well I suppose you can turn the Tv on from the momen they are born but I would say to leave the TV off for as long as you possably can. Babies and children don't need Tv (neither do adults really) get hte child intrested in using thier own imagination, and if you really want to turn on teh TV make it an educational cartoon or program and severly limit the amount they get in front of the TV.

When my first son was born we didn't have a TV, by choice, then everyone kept feeling sorry for us and we thought, what the heck, so we ended up taking my grandpa's old one that sometimes worked. The point is, whenever we would go visit family, they would always want to put something on for him to watch and he would get bored and start playing. He didn't actually become interested in what was on TV 'til around 3 years old. I think we can "train" our kids as early as we like for doing a whole lot of things, and this includes watching TV. The rest of my kids having grown up with TV became interested a lot sooner than that. It also depends what's on the TV.

Babies shouldn't be watching TV they maybe interested but they should be talked to by their parents/caregivers, and be playing to build necessary muscles to reach milestones!! Ideally a child shouldn't watch TV before 2, I know that just ideal but if they do only one or two shows a day MAX!!!! I work with children for a living of all ages from infants to older school age, and its sad to say children are loosing the ability to know how to play!!!!!! The best TV for you child is you sitting down with them and reading a book, or on the floor with them playing and talking to them.

Babies should NEVER watch cartoons. In fact, the AAP recommends no TV for children under the age of 2.

If there's a Tivo baby channel about shapes, alphabets and numbers, why not begin around 2 to 3 years old. But also don't forget, touching and food-tasting is also crucial during the baby's formative years. Expose them too to those.

I just want to give you some advice, heart to heart. Don't let it become something he is really into. My son is addicted to television and we struggle constantly. He was allowed to watch it while I was working at a temporary job and now is obsessed with it (that was over a year ago). If you like, you could watch programs while he is asleep for ideas of things you could do together, such as songs and games.

he must know first that its not real to not want to fly as superman so when he too young began with Barny,Teletypes that kind of shows that's seems normal things to him then when he grow let him see what is for his age to not face the problems add to that that too much cartoons make them so nervous cause the cant be like the hero too powerful and something like that issues
