Yesterday I posted a question and was bombarded by angry people, that were literally putting me down. I don't feel my question was putting anyone or any religious belief down, but I was called "simple" "hostile" "angry" "non believer".......I simply asked why (SOME , NOT ALL) People that say they are of "God" are so quick to put down people that don't believe as they do. Isn't that exactly opposite of what they are supposed to be?
This question stemmed from an answer I saw posted about the Dalai Lama, someone was inquiring about him, and a guy claiming to be "Called by God" said 'he is deceiving us and leading us on a fast path to hell'....the Dalai Lama! ?
Please, I don't want to hear how awful you think I am, or how I should believe your beliefs. I just want to know why it is okay for the people that preach "God's word", (God, who is kind, just, and non judgmental), to be so brutally cruel in their responses to people? Do they have a license from God to persecute?

I am not referring to any one group as a whole! I am talking about the INDIVIDUALS that preach their beliefs by instilling fear, and hatred.

FYI I am not atheist, nor do I feel that my beliefs are significant to the question. Again I ask that you do not respond with preaching to me! It only makes you look ignorant. Thank you.

Oh and "Goethe" you are a perfect example, where do you get off saying the Dalai Lama is a false prophet? Did God tell you that? I'm pretty sure in the final judgement, if it were between you and the Dalai Lama, God would choose him! Why? Because if you actually study your own beliefs and those of the Dalai Lama.....they don't contradict each other...The Dalai Lama does not preach religion, he gives guidelines to be a better....more enlightened being, afterall, Jesus was an Enlightened being...so he could actually teach YOU to be more Christ like.

May I also suggest before you come back with an uneducated response about Buddhists, read up on what they actually believe in. They do not WORSHIP Buddha, nor do they believe the Dalai Lama to be God. The amount of misinformation in this world is truly frightening, for it is the ignorance of people that causes religious wars. Inform yourself people, you just might learn something.

Every one is on a different level of spirituality, and those who shout loudest have not one ounce of spirituality in them, so don't let their hate bother you. God bless.

Approaching the problem from a logical position. And I feel no anger no bigotry or whatever. Jesus made the claim he was the way the truth and the life and that he was God. When he said before Abraham was I am the Jews knew what he meant which is why they wanted to kill him. (Because he made himself equal with God). Now if that is true and thatis the big point, the Dalai Lama could not be God as well which is what his believers believe him to be. Outside of that from what littel I have seen of him he sems to be a likeable character.

It might have been inappropriate but the angry poster was RIGHT about the Dalai Lama: he is a false prophet, preaching peace and reincarnation. Peace is the goal, not subservience in the world. Wither we lay down our lives or we work to better things. The Dalai Lama's message is warped.
Otherwise, we are all human, yet those who claim to be called by G-d should behave a little better, I would agree with you.

I am sorry for you that so many thoughtless and rude people did this to you. You did nothing to deserve such in mature and childlike kids. This is an area that is usually picked on and treated by dirt. Put them out of your mind. You really don't want to give any of them free rent in your head. They are not worth the time nor the space. I saw nothing wrong with your question at all. Go ahead and keep putting your questions here for us to answer and don't be afraid to use the report button either.
No, that is not what God wants us to do.
WE are called to love and take care of each other and not to be of this world but of God's world and we will now happiness and joy. I personally choose to live in God's World and that is the life I have chosen for me.
Several people choose to use his Name when it is not of God. You will know a true believer by their acts and you will know others by their acts.

You are right in saying that these individuals should not be attacking people for not believing as they believe.
True followers of Jesus Christ should boldly proclaim the truth in a spirit of love. That is difficult to do and so very easy for us to react from our flesh when the issues are often so anti-scriptural. Does that make it right? NO!
The truth is offensive, it's narrow-minded, and it's exclusive. So when the truth is being told there will always be some who are offended in their opposition. However, many christians hurt the cause of Christ by their unloving demeanor when confronting false teaching, or when confronting sin.
Many of us forget what we were saved from and many of us who continue to shelter our own "pet" sins need to refrain from judging others until we've dealt with our own disobedience and rejection of truth when it cramps our lifestyle.

I'm sorry you were treated like that, I know how you feel. I got a scathing email from a Christian last night about a humorous answer I posted to a humorous question written by a very popular Atheist on this board. He told me off but good for being disrespectful. (My answer was a JOKE and I wasn't even replying to a Christian's post.) But, the p*ssy that he is hides his email address so I couldn't send a sweet reply back to him. I would front him out but I have more integrity than a lot of Christians like him, so I won't.

People that do this are either 1. like that all the time and probably not going to bear much fruit (not ok) Or 2. irked by a particular question and have lost their temper (hopefully they will do better nex time)
its not ok but everyone makes mistakes,

Thank God your in a country that they will cut you with they're tongues and not with a sword and your neck. People tend to think a certain way and can't understand other people not thinking like them also. Just remember if they really had the heart of their God they wouldn't speak like that. That's why I love Jesus so, they hated him because he loved the sinners and walked and ate with them. Wouldn't it be great if we could be like him instead of the lip service. God bless you all.

They are obviously not familiar with the Dalai Lama's other teaching...

I assume you've read their playbook. If you read the Bible with a critical eye, you won't find a whole lot of actual love and forgiveness there. You will find, in a book that refers to non-believers as "fools", a cult leader who was extremely rude and dismissive when it came to non-Jews. I personally don't find the whole Heaven/Hell concept very loving or kind, and I think that Christianity conveys exactly what it means to convey - division, dehumanisation, and a false sense of superiority.
