(When people are celebrating someones birthdate, it is always
that person that gets the present not everyone else.
Something to think about. Please do not say because he
died, that is why he cannot receive his presents.)

The present He receives is when we receive Him as Lord & Savior.

The presents on Christmas day are symbolic of the present that the Magi brought to the infant Jesus. They are also symbolic of the gift of Salvation, which Jesus gave to all who will accept it.

I celebrate the birth of Jesus on what is known as Christmas Day. I do so in remembrance of the fact that He was born into this world as a human even though He was God. He came for a reason and fulfilled the prophecies made about Him. I don't know when He was actually born and I don't believe it is important for us to know. If it were then God would have made the date clear to all of us. I do not celebrate as many do. Ours is a very simple celebration without the trimmings and, especially, without Santa. There are gifts but our children have always known from whom they came and why.

Presents , visiting , dancing , decorating with evergreens , etc . predate Christianity by many thousands of years . The Winter stolstice called The Return of Light because the days begin getting longer was a time of great joy and celebration.
The ancient Pagan traditions did not stop when Christianity stole the Pagan holiday .

The reason is not because of the magi from the East- they gave gifts to JESUS and not to each other!

December 25th has always been a pagan holiday, the pagans gave gifts to each other. Hence, the people celebrating this pagan holiday and taking up all it's characteristics except its name are just sugar-coating a cyanide pill and calling it "candy".

True Christians do not celebrate Christmas.

Because humans are social animals by nature and the majority want to follow whatever they perceive is the "accepted" manner of behavior under the circumstances. So much for the sociological justification. My shorter answer, however, is that folks FEAR what others might think if their behavior doesn't conform with the moral majority.

It kind of fits that everyone should get presents on the birthday of a man who held the whole of mankind before himself.

I believe the tradition comes from the story of the 3 wise men who followed the star to find the baby Jesus, and they came bearing gifts for him.

You will never get a truthful answer from the participants....they will ALWAYS find an excuse for doing what they do to justify it.
It's sad isn't it?

christmas is jesus' b-day... but also Saint Nicholas (santa claus) went around and helped out the struggling ppl in his community... (snuck into a poor family's house and gave them money to help them out)... thus creating the tradition of ppl giving presents to their loved ones
