The last 2 times I've been to the stores that have a lot of TVs on display, the LCDs just look brighter and sharper to me. They've all been playing the same video feed. The plasmas all looked dim and dull.

I could see that some TVs weren't set up optimally, but it was pretty universal.

Personally I like Lcd tvs better. With Lcd you dont get any burn-in like plasma's do. Also with Lcd the picture is brighter and clearer! Plus Lcd tvs as less expensive!
Hope this helps!

My opinion is no. Firstly, you're right, the TVs at big stores are not calibrated how they should be and the picture is not an accurate one. LCDs look great because of their bright vibrant color, but that usually isn't a true color. Secondly LCDs still have issues with black levels. This means they tend to have issues displaying different levels of black and tends to just black out the entire area instead of distinguishing certain things. LCDs are still great panels and gaining ground on Plasma, but overall I believe Plasmas still have the better and truer picture in the correct environment.

LCD's have been better lately. However, plasma tv's can show a true yellow and are sharper by default for less.
