Any time you are put under there is a risk, but it is a small one and you will be a lot more comfortable having the general.

Ok - I can tell you that I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth done at once. I can also tell you that I had gas, and that the oral surgeon who was doing the procedure, gassed himself, while doing my procedure, passed out in the floor and had a seizure. They asked me if I wanted to stop, and come back - I thought they must have been joking (I was at the hospital after all) and they finished my procedure, I was fine and I believe the doc was too. It'll be ok for you, just make sure the doc isn't overly leaning in your face (LOL). Stock up on babyfood and mac and cheese and mashed potatoes before you have it done though. Feel better soon (it doesn't really hurt that much afterwards...unless you smoke).

People are put under every day. There are risks, yes, but not as much as you'd think. The likelyhood that there would be adverse effects from the anaesthesia is slim.
Some underlying conditions cause it to be more dangerous, though. If you have concerns, talk to your doctor first.

I had general when I had my wisdom teeth out (all four). I am glad I had it that way, because I've had a lot of dental procedures and some of them are not fun to be awake for. It's generally safe- though as with any medical procedure, there are risks. Talk to your doctor about your specific concerns.
Good luck.

It is safe most of the time. There are always risks that your surgeon should go over with you. I have known a few people who have had general anesthesia to have their wisdom teeth out - I didn't, but wished I had...

Absolutely! My mom is an oral surgeon assistant. I used general anaesthsia for my wisdom teeth removal. It is a piece of cake. You'll be fine. I had all four of mine out at one time.

I've used it when I had my wisdom teeth removed..I was happy for it..didn't feel a thing and woke up with no pain.
Make sure you tell your doctor if your taking any types of medicines..including herbal medicine.. They might react with the anesthesia..other wise..it should be safe for you.

To be honest I can't image getting it done without general anesthesia. It would be extremely painful, even if you were numb. My husband had general anesthesia when he got his out and he was just fine! You will be ok, you'll fall asleep, and the next thing you know it will be over.
Good luck =]
