She's in her mid early sixties, her eldest sister died from cancer, her other sister has had breast cancer and recovered but is now battling another form of it, and my grandma's mum and auntie died from bowel cancer.

Now my grandma is having lots of problems, dietary changes etc made no difference and she has been referred to a consultant, what will he do? What's the procedure now? Is it serious that she is seeing a consultant?

Please don't tell me to relax, I'm not stressed or fretting, please just somebody explain to me what could be going on.

Thank you.

Unless she's going to see an oncologist it doesn't necessarily mean she has cancer, so don't panic. Could be a gastro-enterology consultant, for instance. The consultant is just an expert in his/her field who can better get to the bottom of her problem.

Good luck to you and grandma.

If she has cancer, then she is likely be referred for a consultation on how to treat it.

she will see a consultant to see whats wrong and best for her, they may put her on tablets, cymo, or operate if she has cancer.
