The Spirit [meaning ones Soul] is always desirous of returning Home to God, but this desire of ones Soul is repressed until one has nearly fulfilled the "purpose of life". The "flesh", meaning ones MIND, brain, physical body, and ego [ones sense of being separate in the world] is unable to perceive ones Spirituality, and thus it is always "weak" as pertains to Spirituality.
The "purpose of life" is to fully and completely explore and experience the Creation. This is the task of every Soul, whether one realizes this or not. In the beginning, some of the Souls were anxious to enter Creation, while others wanted nothing but to remain basking in the Love of God. All Souls had to enter the Creation.
Now some Souls, even in the middle of this exciting world, experience an intense loneliness and longing...for something. That something is God. The Absolute Joy and Peace the Soul experiences when in the presence of God.
What keeps the Soul locked into the illusion of life is its Karma, or the many attachments it has to the things of this World. Each attachment is literally a bit of ones own Spirituality stuck in ones MIND as a Karmic due bill. And until one "reaps" that Karma, and does not respond with a new Karma, it remains stored within some MINDline within ones MIND realm.
The mystics tell us that each Soul has accumulated mountains of stored Karma over many lifetimes. Each Karmic attachment is a bit of ones Apapsyche [Operational Energy of ones Soul]. Each attachment then diminishes ones Apapsyche just a bit. Each diminished bit of Apapsyche reduces ones power to rise above the illusion of life. We are hopelessly stuck, in other words.
The "remedy" is the faint but Honest desire of ones Soul to return Home to God. When ones Soul has accumulated some level of Knowledge via its many lives [this is Known only to God] God in the form of a God-Man [Saint or Perfect Living Master] calls that Soul to Him/Her, and initiates that Soul into the mystical Path back Home. Nothing about this process is "intellectual". It is entirely of a Spiritual nature, and it is initiated by phenomena either unknown, or unrevealed. One aspect of it is "desire" and a desperate seeking for Truth. No doubt this combination creates a certain "faith" as well.
Peace

I think spirit is always willing, but it is surrounded by a strong mind. Mind always dictates its terms and as long as it is powerful it dictates the proceedings.
So the remedy is to control the mind so that it does work for the spirit. Its the other way round at the moment and we have to turn the process upside down.
To do this first you should know what you are up against. we are all up against the mind. We need to win over the mind. If we need to win over it then we should know how it will surrender. Mind is fond of pleasures, pleasure of taste, touch etc, and it runs after the pleasure. Once its gets a better please it will dump the first one and run after the next one. This is the situation of every body.
If we give the mind a pleasure which is above all the material pleases (in other words some thing which is pure -- spiritual) if will not run after any thing else and will become one pointed. And there lies the remedy.
I understand all the religions of the world give the same message. (its the same old medicine in a new bottle every time)
Regards

When the spirit is unwilling and the flesh is weak there is no remedy.
Believers in God the spirit is always willing but the flesh will always be weak. We are all sinners even those that walk with the Holy Spirit can easy fall into sin.
When the spirit is willing and the flesh is weak you still have a remedy and that is - REPENT AND BE REBORN IN JESUS CHRIST THE LORD.
GOD BLESS! AMEN! SHALOM!

Correct the quotation. It should be ....."The flesh is weak , but the spirit is high".
Here's humour in this connection. A Russian Computer after carefully and nicely programmed was delivered the command to translate the above quotation in Russian Language.Came the quick response , which after translating into English read as follows...." The meat is rotten, but the vodka is strong".

The remedies lies in the spirit the spirit is of God and God said His Spirit is Always Willing but our Flesh is weak to sin, since we were born, and conceived in sin, our outer body can"t stand it but our inner body would be always bellongs to Christ-Jesus. God says to test, the Spirits to see if there , are of Him, because there are too many false prophets out there, and by this you know the Spirit of God, if the Spirit confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the Flesh is of God. There are Un- clean, Spirits DeceivingSpirits, And Not All Ministering Spirits, But only God is the God of the Spirits, Then they fell on their faces and said "OGOD the God of All the Spirits and of all Flesh shall one man sin, and you be angry with all the congregation!? THEm GOD says depart, now from sin sineers and don't touch nothing of theirs , least you be consumed in all their sins. To God be the Glory, be bless!

The remedy lies in the Mind.......... Body, Spirit and Mind are your triple driving forces. If first two have given up, you still have a very strong ally, the Mind, which can move the mountains, so to speak. With positive thoughts you can still make it.
Try Vipassana...

The holy names of the Lord. Even if we have so many bad qualities, so many weaknesses and even not very willing if we know that the remedy is the Name of God and we just continue chanting eventually the Pure name will purify our dirty mind and heart.
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare The name is the incarnation of the Lord in Sound. But He is fully present when the name is chanted. It is a matter of our heart being clear of all the dust to see Him. for a link to all info on the maha mantra and how to chant it write me.

The spirit is unwilling of what?
Flesh is weak, you mean tempted?
As per remedy is concern, death is our enemy,
Death is not for flesh alone, spirit's death is danger.
After all death is only separation.
It means one will be there, but in death.

Forget the flesh and blood friend. They are nothing.
Try to be friendly with the spirit.
