i have the same problem i quit drinking 2 years ago and niw i feel that im not as outgoing and mabye a little boring.so i just started going out with friends as the designated driver and guess what i still have tons of fun going to the same places we used to.i dont know if you can do that thou are you a recovering alcaholic.if so then do not put your self in a situation of temptation. go to dinners or go play pool.thereis lots of stuff you can still do just be strong happy and have fun.you will probaly get all the girls anyway no one likes a drunk man hitting on her and putting his beer breath all over her face...good luck...

Hey Irish,

It's good to seeing you're out and about. It means there's life in you still with a healthy urge to see new places and meet new people. I'm glad you're taking a matters into your own hands. I think you've got some good suggestions here already.

I like Lisa's answer about girls not wanting booze breathe blowing in their faces. That one made me laugh. Reminds me of my own misadventures. Whether you realize this or not there is probably someone close to who has noticed the difference in your behavior and they can fill you in on the details. Sometimes it's subtle. Other times it seems a whole new you emerges from the fog, a better you.

Stick with it. Trust in yourself and in the belief that you're worthy of a chance. There are some wonderful people waiting to meet you. They'll pickup on it.

Peace, Alan K.

A good friend of mine learned how to dance really well and just went to the clubs and showed his stuff. He made many friends and even started his own dance class after so many people asked him to teach them how to dance.

My uncle took salsa dance classes and meets women all the time at the Spanish clubs. He often gets back home with many numbers in his pockets.

I quit drinking this year too. The bar scene is pretty funny, really, if you're the only one sober. But think of all the other interests you have, and join clubs of people that share them. You will meet people that way. Really that's all the bar scene was: people with similar interests (in this case, drinking).

Good luck.

Be active outdoors. My brothers and cousins joined a baseball league this past year and met tons of new people. So did i just from going to see the games.

If you have a dog you can take it to a dog park and socialize with other dog lovers.

Go to your local tennis courts and practice your swing. There will always be people there and you might join in on a game.

*laff* the clubs are not a bad way to start:)

there are lots of places to go that don't sell liquor (incase u r tempted) to meet ppl.

like internet cafe's, coffee shops, even hanging out at the mall, or library. ppl hook up all the time, not just in bars.

you could also try a church. i know that sounds bad. but what i mean is, there are lots of friendly ppl there, and u get to know them. sometimes u might meet someone.

you could join a sports team, like a bowling league or whatever.

you could go online and meet ppl (becareful meeting in person, i'm not condoning it.) places like myspace have lots of interesting folks from allover. i should know. i'm on it :)

good luck

I guess join a martial art class, and a fitness club. That's what I am thinking of doing at least. Church might be a good idea also.

Take an evening class in something that you like - dance, art, creative writing etc, that way you all have something in common to start talking about. You could always ask other people in your group what they do and where they go.
