Never, but lets take another sport and break it down.
Football (American)- ok so a cow is slaughtered for the ball outer cover the the inner portion is constructed of a rubber ballast which is a derivative of crude oil. The shoes the players wear Are also constructed with raw hide and rubber. The plastic from the helmet and the shoulder pads are also made from petroleum. Now 80 thousand fans or more go to numerous games each weekend in vehicles that give off emissions.
After all that you can also say the same for just about all sports.

I would say it is a matter of opinion whether it is a waste or not. Literally hundreds of millions of dollars of income for individuals and businesses are geared around the sport and whether you like it or not that is a significant economic impact. As far as being factually wasteful it is very unlikely that the miniscule amount of emissions created simply by the racing of NASCAR vehicles is even remotely statistically significant. Finally, this is a free country (for the most part) so 'we' don't have the right or power to 'let' this go on. If it is your prerogative not to like it, don't watch the races and don't buy the sponsors' products. Those who do like it will make sure the sponsors stay in business.

1. Do you drive a car? 2. Do you buy bottled water? 3. Do you watch a sport?
The first question is obvious, do you drive a car. No matter what type of car you drive, it is going to use up fuel. The fact of the matter is that NASCAR is not "killing" the Earth. We as a whole are. So you accusing NASCAR of "wasting the atmosphere" is completely wrong. You should be looking at the human race as a whole.
Next, do you drink bottled water. I asked this question because petroleum - or oil that we use to put into our cars so that they can run - goes into making the bottles for bottled water (I just wanted to make sure that you know what petroleum is because of how ignorant you are for asking this question in the first place).
Finally, if you watch a sport, how do all of the players, stadium employees, and fans get to the arena. I think that all of them actually ride their bikes (sarcasm). The fact of the matter is that everything in the world uses some form of oil no matter what you are talking about. EVERYTHING from energy, cars, bottled water, and other sports all use petroleum in some way fashion or form.
Have a good day riding your bike wherever you go...idiot.

When the nascar haters wake up and stop polluting the air with their emissions.
Nobody rides a bike to best buy for their puter so I'm guessing you drove a CAR there. Although you could have taken a green bus, not likely.

Why are you robbing us Nascar fans of our air????? We allow it to go on simply because we have a meaning in life, and the smell of burning rubber is only surpassed by Napalm!!

A typical day in rush hour traffic wastes more fuel and rubber than a weekend of racing. And it pulluted the air way more.
Hey, here's an idea for you...why don't you save oxygen and shut up?

It has been proven time and time again that in any single large city in America, during any 1 hour of rush hour (both morning and evening rush hour I might add), there is more pollution created by idling cars than what is created in an ENTIRE YEAR of NASCAR racing. Now if you take that and multiply it by the 310 or so days a year that those rush hour traffic jams occur, TIMES the other 5 or 6 large cities in the US that have traffic jams twice daily, NASCAR is a very, very small part of the GLOBAL pollution problem.
Now, let's talk about the CO2 that come spewing from such worthless wastes of space such as yourself. If we could "silence" every one of those "wastes of space," Global Warming would come to a screeching halt due to the veritable loss of production of greenhouse gasses.

(Heavy sigh)
HERE ARE THE NUMBERS: In St. Louis MO. The 13Th largest city in the U.S. All the drivers combined drive an average total of 65,255,260 miles PER DAY!!! Lets pretend that everyone averages 50MPG. Which is a very generous figure and more like 20.
However, @ 50mpg St. Louis uses 1,305,105 gallons of gas PER DAY!
NASCAR has 43 drivers that compete in 36 races per year. We'll just say there all '500' mile races. That would give NASCAR 774,000 miles driven/raced per year/season.
At 2mpg, which is a very low figure and more like 5-9, NASCAR burns 387,000 gallons of gas PER YEAR.
So it would literally take NASCAR 3.3 seasons/years to burn the same amount of fuel that just ONE CITY burns in ONE DAY!
And that's with the MPG's swayed very generously in your favor.
TIRES: I work at the #1 retail tire dealer in the state of Missouri. We have 38 stores. Last year we sold just over 1,000,000 tires to the general public and a handful of wholesale accounts.
If NASCAR used 5 sets of tires for all 43 cars in all 36 races, NASCAR would use 30,960 tires per year.
So it would take NASCAR 32 YEAR'S to use the same amount of tires that we sell in ONE year. And that's just one successful family owned business in one city.
Plus I can guarantee you'll never see a NASCAR tire laying on a river bank! One reason is there souvenir's.
AL GORE's house uses the same amount of energy per month than the average family of four does in one year!
When are Al Gore supporters going to see his rants for what they really are, a build up in support for his global warming reteric so the dems can slip in a 'save the world' tax and it'll probably be on Gasoline! He wants to tax us because the sun comes up everyday.

Everyone pollutes.
here is the facts;
An average human produces about half of litre of flatulent gas per day.So average humans pollute the air as well as cars.
