My dog was pregnant, she was getting pretty big, I got everything together for her, took her to the vet and confirmed her pregnancy, but this week all of a sudden she's so much thinner, she doesn't look pregnant at all. I can't find any evidence of a miscarriage, other than she was cleaning herself quite a bit the other day, that's it that's all I saw...did she eat them?

Holly, I paid the extra for the ultrasound, I wanted to see the babies, they were so tiny, cute little lumps of pups..

She has no health problems, our vet is very important to us since he is the only one truly qulified to care for her health. As for the pregnancy itself, it kind of couldn't be avioded, I walked in as they were stuck together, it was too late to stop anything, I wasn't planning on breeding this year, I wanted to my husbands male fixed, but he loves his dog and didn't want his "manhood" taken away. They're both the same breed, small and cute, but I'm not into breeding. I think when I take her in I'll get her fixed now, instead of him, to avoid this in the future.
I've had miscarriages myself, I know dogs don't have the same exact feelings as humans, but I don't want to cause her any more distress.

It sounds like she did miscarry them. The other day when you saw her licking herself a lot, she must have had them and ate them. At only 45-50 days they would not have survived. Sorry for your loss.

How was the pregnancy confirmed? Palpation can be quite inaccurate. Ultrasound is accurate, but costly and frankly, waiting another few weeks proves whether pups are present or not.
You don't say what day of pregancy she should be on. I've had several large breed girls not show until around day 53 (really strange when there's 7 pups in there!).
Yes, I've seen dogs miscarry, usually only part of a litter however, and always with some discharge.
Edit: If she's at day 45 you really don't have all that long to wait. Day 57 or 58 I would bring her in for an X-ray to see if there are any pups left, as well as to count them if they are present. I'd continue to feed her as if she's pregnant.
I rarely do ultrasounds, mostly because I just dont want a lot of pressure and hard rubbing on the belly potentially dislodging fragile embryos. Dogs simply don't have the same fat layer humans do buffering the belly. (However, I tend to be one of those who believes in doing as little to interfere with natural breeding and reproduction in canids as possible- beyond the selection of suitable breeding stock, of course).
Good luck. You may find she's simply one of those girls who carrys her pregnancy well.

Some non pregnant females may show all the outward signs of a pregnancy. Hormonal abnormality rather than exposure to a male can bring on this reaction. Sometimes false pregnancy is not just a harmless condition. You may even try buying some little puppy dogs. Kind of like an adoption for dogs. She will know they are not hers, but will still treat them as they are.

The last litter that I had , I had an ultrasound done that showed 3 pups.
When mom finally give birth their was only one.
Yes, dogs do reabsorb their pups in some cases, ask any vet, which may of happened to your gal.
Go back to the vet and get another ultrasound done to be sure.
Good Luck

I'm doing basic obedience right now. My trainer hasn't once handled my dog. He has shown me how to handle my dog by using his own dog but that's about it. The reasoning is that I need to learn how to do these basic corrections and what not myself. Learn more https://tinyurl.im/2gGl0
I have never considered sending my dog away for training. I guess I haven't found that much of a problem with him to even think about it.
Again, it may also have to do with the level of training you are looking for etc. No idea lol. I'm not a trainer. I think a first time dog owner needs to learn simple commands and how to handle their dog themselves as well.

It is very difficult to train a dog if you do not have the proper dog training equipment. The right piece of equipment, when properly fitted, helps aid in communication between you and your pet.
Leather Dog Collars, Harnesses, and Leashes
Basic training equipment that every owner needs is a leather dog collar and a dog leash. When you are placing the collar on your pet, you will want to make sure that it is snug enough that it won't slide over your dog's head should they balk, but it isn't so tight that it is restricts their ability to breathe.
Every time you put the collar on your dog, you need to check the fit. Puppies grow, and older dogs can gain and lose weight as well, which will also impact how the collar fits. In addition to making sure that the collar fits properly, you will want to check to make sure that the buckle isn't showing signs of strain, that the stitching is good, and that the leather hasn't developed dry rot.
Many people also like to have a leather dog harness for their dog. Many dog owners feel that a dog harness is more secure, and also provides better control than a traditional dog collar. The harness allows you to move the dog's entire torso, as opposed to simply jerking on the neck when you need the dog to stop or heel.
Knowing How to Properly Use Dog Training Equipment
Knowing the type of equipment that you need is only part of the dog training experience. You also need to know how to properly use it. The best way to make sure that you are using the equipment properly is by signing up for a dog obedience course.
The great thing about dog obedience courses is that you will be working with someone who knows how dog training equipment works, and they will also be able to offer tips and suggestions about what you can do when you and your pet seem to be having communication issues. It is important to note that if you have a pet that tends to be aggressive, whether towards other dogs or people, the instructor might suggest that your dog wear a dog muzzle. This will allow the other dog owners in the surrounding environment to feel more secure, and may also prevent the outbreak of a fight from ensuing between your dog and other dogs in the class.
Advanced Dog Training Options
As your pet gets older, you may decide to explore more training options. Once a dog has mastered basic obedience, there are several different options available to you. Some people decide that they want to teach their puppy how to move through obstacles, and then later go on to compete in agility classes.
Some people even decide to learn more about having their dog certified to be a search and rescue dog. If you decide that you want to pursue a specific type of advanced dog training, you will be required to purchase additional dog training equipment that is applicable for your specific needs.
The exact type of equipment that you and your dog will need will depend on the type of training you pursue. For example, if you are hoping to utilize your dog as a means of protection, chances are highly likely that any attack dog training equipment that you will need will be entirely different from the majority of the training tools that you would purchase for agility training.
When you have the proper dog training tools, and have been educated about how they should be used in the proper manner, you will find that training your canine family member is much easier than you would expect.

I would suggest having her examined by a vet. Seh may have eaten them, She may have absorbed them ( this sometimes is due to a n infection), I wouldn't take cahnces if you had it confirmed there is a underlying reason for this.

have her checked by your vet.it's unusual how she seemed to lose weight all of a sudden.some dogs and cats sometimes really do that thing to their young but dont assume yet until you heard from your vet.
