I personally like Odd Nerdrum , he actually employs techniques used by the old masters especially Caravaggio and Rembrandt. Many people say things such as "oh if the old masters were alive today they too would paint like Pollock or Warhol", that's ridiculous. Although inferior to the old masters, he's the closest thing we have as modern Rembrandt.
