No it's not satans fault - thats ridiculous - however I do agree with you that its not an actual Christmas song - but should be considered a "winter holiday song" etc....

No. My favorite things is a considered a Christmas song because the Sound of Music is generally available on your television during Christmas. Even though it is not a Christmas movie it is a family classic and has made a connection that links its appropriateness to Christmas time. Therefore it is played during Christmas.

The wintertime imagery of some of the lyrics has made "My Favorite Things" a popular song during the Christmas season, and it often appears on holiday-themed albums and compilations, although in the show and movie it is sung during a summer thunderstorm.

It sounds like a Christmas song it's talking about material possessions right? Christmas is all about buying things, right? I like the song but I think it's good all year around. I prefer to sing "Angels we have heard on high" or "Jingle bells" Away in a manger" or "Mary did you know".- A lovely song that actually has something to do with Christmas.
If they play it in stores it gets the shoppers in a "buying mood", doesn't it?

This is the first time I've heard that it was. Other than the snowflakes on the eyelashes, it isn't necessarily even a winter song. And, as those snowflakes aren't happening when the song is being sung, it isn't even that. Where'd you hear this?

Because the repertoire of Christmas music is in serious need of new songs and nobody is coming up with any!

'cause it's a feel-good song, unless you're like me. I start chewing on the furniture whenever I hear anything from The Sound of Music.

It's all about the line about wiskers on kittens. Kittens are a Christmas tradition.

Maybe only Christians are supposed to take pleasure in things like raindrops, roses, and whiskers on kittens.
Welcome back. (I don't know if you've been gone but I haven't seen you in a while).
