why do we allow lobsters to suffer such a terrible end to their life as a being to another life form. Why can't we show kindness...Is there any organisation that we can all send our comments and support to? I would like to see the cruelty stopped.

P.s. Lobster I have enjoyed this to eat.. but didn't know that they were still killed by the method of boiling!

Good grief. One child dies every five seconds of hunger and you want to take up the lobsters cause. Get a clue and grow up.

There's no need for that, and I'm surprised there's people who still drop live lobster in hot water. Minutes (if no seconds) before dropping the lobster in boiling water, you stick the knife between the head and the tail, severing the nervous system and giving then a swift and more humane death.

Contrary to popular belief plunging the lobster into boiling water is a quick way of ending said creatures life. Another way to do it though is to store them in the freezer for roughly and hour bringing on in esscence a hypothermic state then boiling them. Neither way is perfect but thats just the way these things are. Of course you could always plunge a knife through it's exoskeleton thus puncturing the brain but if anything I'd think that worse than being chucked into a pot of boiling water.

In the real world there is no such thing as kindness. Does the lion put the zebra to sleep before tearing it apart and devouring it?

There is, however; a more humane way to kill the lobster before cooking it. Cool the water the lobster is in to near freezing. Being cold blooded, this will put it to sleep and will kill it with minimal pain. Afterward, transfer to boiling water to cook.

If this matters to you, then don't eat lobster (or anything) that's killed in a manner that inflicts pain. You'd be surprised that most of the meat that we eat has suffered some sort of pain in the process of becoming our dinner.

Let me ask you: how DO you kill a lobster is a cruelty-free way?

No everyone just drops them in the pot of boiling water. Many people will kill it by placing a knife in the back of the head. My personal favorite, which I have been told is extremely humane, is to drop the lobster in a bucket of wine until it is drunk and it's eyestalks start weaving. This method also makes the lobster more tender because it isn't tense when you cook it.

I am all against animal cruelty, but this is not the case. There is NO suffering! The water is always at a Fast boil... very hot!

The lobster dies instantly... there is no suffering!

Now, if they just slowly lowered them in... that's torture. But proffessional chefs, I've never heard of it.

Is this a joke? A lobster has to be killed and cooked straight away otherwise you risk poisoning your dinner guests. Straight into boiling water or stabbed through the head are the quickest and most humane ways of doing so.

xje55iex, no you didn't, they don't have vocal chords, in fact have anything to make a scream with. This coupled with a primitive nervous system and no real brain to speak of ... You just heard escaping air.

If they are bred for eating then it doesn't matter to me and it also the fact that they are sooooo nice makes me not mind at all.
Although other cruelty to animals i mind such as mass long distance travels for horses etc...... Mainly because they are nearly always cramped and the people have no respect for the animals at all
Sorry as its a bit of topic lol
