The Bible, the Scriptures of the Old Testament and the New Testament, preserved for us in the Masoretic text (Old Testament) Textus Receptus (New Testament) and in the King James Bible, is verbally and plenarily inspired of God. It is the inspired, inerrant, infallible, and altogether authentic, accurate and authoritative Word of God, therefore the supreme and final authority in all things (II Tim. 3:16-17; II Peter 1:21; Rev. 22:18-19.

Zondervan, a major publisher of the NIV and the catholic church have known for years for what I'm about to state: Other than the comment made about the KJB at the www.chick.com website, if "anyone" can prove that the KJB has mistakes or has flaws in it, there is a one million dollar offer to anyone who can prove it. You understood me right, $1,000,000. This statement is not made to be taken as a joke. That said, before you claim you can prove it, consider this: As much as the catholic church has bad mouthed the Bible over hunderds of years and has killed people for writing it, not once have they came fore to take up the offer. Zondervan has bad mouth the King James Bible for years because it out sells their NIV and has all but called the KJB a dog because of it. Wouldn't you think, here's their chance to prove that their book is better than the KJ and yet they won't take the offer up? Click on the websites below and you will see why.

"Every" other book out there ASV, RSV, NASB, NEB, REB, TEV, GNB, NRSV, NASBU, NCV, NET, NIV, TNIV, NKJV, NWT, ICV, RV, AB, JB, NAB, NJB, MLB, NIRV, CEV, plus translations by Montgomery, Young, Weymouth, Goodspeed, Moffatt, Williams, Stern, Barclay, Rotherham, Taylor, Ledyard, Norlie, Kerdrick, Smith, Harwood, Mace, Boothroyd, Fenton, Moulton, Ballentine, Clarke, Courtney, Darby, Noyes, Ainslie, Sharpe, Wilson, Spurrell, Bartlett, Weekes, Lloyd, Worrell, Spencer, Craddock, Green, Beck, Knox, Lamsa, Tomanek, Phillips and a hundred more were based on man-made opinions. Do we need another new Bible translation in English? Does the Lord need these "Bible correctors" to "help" Him "straighten-out" His word? Everyone of these "books" have been influnce by the vatican. Not one of them were written under II Peter 1:21. Why, because they have error in them.

Hi there I love this question, what a wonderful topic. I speak to a lot of Catholics, and being one myself at one time and being an older person, I can tell you that Catholics at one time used the Douay Bible, now known as the Douay-Rheims Bible, it is a "version" of the original Hebrew and Greek scriptures not an actual translation, the modern day speech Bible that they presently use is the New Jerusalem Bible, again being a version not a translation. What is the difference between a version and a translation? A translation is translated from original manuscripts, a version is just a version of thos manuscripts. You can actually learn the truth from either but it's easier to learn the truth from God's Word if you stick strictly to a translation verses a version, if you really want to know the truth.
The Bible which is truly a gift from God, is unique and we want clarification and find things that it reveals about God, His son, the Universe, our being created, the earth, how to cope with life's problems all found in the Bible and all revealed from an accurate source. Case in point. Did you know that at 1 Corinthians 8:5 the Bible tells us that, "there are many "gods" and many "lords", then verse 6 says there is actually to us one God, the Father,.... and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are and we through him." So how do we know who is who? To have a personal relationship or bond with a dear and special friend you have to first of all know their name, that's the very first thing you find out. Have you ever met someone and said, "they don't look anything like that name, it just doesn't fit them." But after a while, they become that name because it starts to fit them, then you grow to love them because you know them and love them deeply. The term God, LORD, etc are just titles. They are not names. They are merely titles.
So we would want to find a translation that tells us not only Gods name but all His qualities. Notice several Bibles, and take the scripture at Exodus 6:3, here God told the nation of Israel, that He had appeared to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, but by my name (some Bibles say LORD, Holman's Bible says Yahweh, the Tanakh a very old Bible says ?????, the Jubilee Bible 2000 says (YHWH) The King James VERSION, American Standard VERSION, Douay-Rheims says ADONAI, and so on and so forth. The Bibles that are versions like the King James, English Revised, American Standard are all Versions and limit the name Jehovah to just a few times. Wouldn't it be better to read and study a Bible that is an accurate translation, that has God's name Jehovah in it more that 7000 times where is was originally written in, not being left out, not using the title LORD or something else, one that brings Him praise and honor? So that a person could develop a real close relationship with their Grand Creator Jehovah God as a dear and loving Friend? You can go on line and check out and compare for yourself at www.wol.jw.org and download the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures. It has been quoted as being the most accurately transcribed Bible in print today, I sure hope this helps.

I was raised Catholic and had plenty of bibles and I studied! The difference between a Catholic bible and a Protestant bible is that they have 7 more books in the OT. This link has a few bibles you may check out.
