I just read about beheadings and wondered if a person can die of shock before being beheaded? Can that person die before the act of decapitation is completed, thus not experiencing the whole ordeal?

You die instantly when beheaded.

The two carotis take the oxygentated blood to the brain. The jugulars merely return the de-oxygenated blood from it. And the pressure in the carotids is ten times than of the jugulars. That's how much bigger a problem it is to have an arterial injury.

you asked 3 questions that are not truly connected. If just one carotid artery is severed(you have two),you will die sooner or later depending on the size of the person. If the severed artery is tied off,the other one will function until collateral circulation is estabilished.
A beheading is instantanious.
