They want us to say yes so that they can accuse us of hypocrisy.

You know if I had asked this question it would be for the sole purpose of education and maybe curiosity. It is a free country and I think everyone should respect others beliefs. I am a curious person and I don't accept only what I think is right I also want to learn about how others feel. Gee I grew up as a back row Baptist in Tennessee any stupid questions I might ask is just to find out how the majority of people feel about a matter. Have a good day I have learned alot that has opened my mind!

So they can call them hypocrites. All those that call Atheists hypocrites for celebrating "Christmas" obviously don't realize just how hypocritical they are. Especially when they are putting up "Christmas" Trees and burning Yule Logs and kissing under Mistletoe... oh, and one of my faves here lately (my neighbor and I just had a discussion about this).... How many go Wassailing??????? There isn't a major holiday that they can claim as their own. Even Easter... setting aside the Pagan traditions and holiday that one is tied to... would still be coming from the Jewish Passover.
They really need to get over their control issues and learn to deal with their own religion and leave the rest of us the hel alone.

Because people are too lazy to search for question and just want to post something stupid then sit there and think smug thoughts about how they GOT "EM this time
Goes for both sides
If all those idiot questions like why do atheists do Christmas
or prove the bible
or taking bible verses out of context
This place would be a ghost town.. though a much smarter and more worth looking over

i do no longer understand what Christians you have been speaking to yet that's thoroughly incorrect. because of the fact whilst exchange into the occasion of Christmas in user-friendly terms for one individual? that's the total opposite of what we are requested to do. Christmas is a non secular occasion even though it is likewise a time for giving, loving, spending time with kin and exhibiting others you care-no you will inform you which you will no longer try this. P.S- i totally settle for that Jesus might or would possibly no longer have been born on December twenty 5th, yet frankly i do no longer care whilst he exchange into born. particularly that he exchange into and that i'm sorry if some people do in comparison to that

i'm celebrating yule and the secular holiday of christmas. i'd celebrate hannukah, too, but i don't know any jews that celebrate.
fundies [not christians, true christians are tolerant] want to catch atheists in showing a sign of belief. it's like a cat and a fishbowl. it's comical if you step back and watch.

Atheists are under the mistaken impression that they don't believe in God; in fact, there is a being that they worship above all else, i.e., a god: themselves and the rest of humanity.
Why, then, would they wish to celebrate the birth of God on earth, whom they claim not to believe in? It's the height of hypocrisy for atheists to celebrate Christmas. Why not just have a nice dinner in the middle of November or January?
Those atheists who insist they enjoy the festive spirit are sensing the emptiness they have inside. Like some say, they are sensing that "God-shaped hole in their heart."
Perhaps they should seriously investigate the evidence for the life and teachings of Jesus the Christ. Lee Strobel's book, "A Case for Christ" is a good start, as is Josh McDowell's, "More than a Carpenter." Both of these ex-athesists document the research they did in their attempts to prove the falsehood of Christianity. (Both trained in law, by the way.) Both men ended up giving their lives to Christ, overwhelmed by the evidence for His life, teachings, death, and resurrection.
Death of a Guru by R.M. Maharaj is also an interesting read, being the autobiography of an ex-hindu, studying to become a guru or yogi, who gave his life to Christ.
Atheists celebrating Christmas are trying to fill the void that their denial of the one true God has created in them. They need our prayers that they, too, will one day drop their pride and give their lives to Christ.

One can celebrate the historical Jesus and his (alleged) universal ethic put forth in the Sermon on the Mount. Even if JC is a total fiction, the story contains a lesson applicable to all and not requiring belief in a heavenly father.

Because Christians like to push their beliefs on others and make them feel like if they dont believe then they are damned. They somehow think that by constantly pestering you and trying to get you to conform to their religion, they will be saving your soul. Personally, i think they need to mind their own business and let people decide what they want to believe on their own, and stop trying to convert people who already have their minds made up and wont change for anyone. This is how wars start.....

Why have a celebration in something you dont believe sounds like a waste of time to me. God Bless YOU anyway

if they don't believe in God..or christianity..,Jesus, then why do they want to celebrate Christmas? do you even know why its called christmas? because back in the olden days when it was someone's birthday that was what it was called, so for instance, if your name was michael, it would be called michaelmas, or joseph, it would be called josephmas...therefore since it is a day used as christ's birthday its called CHRISTmas....is it the actual known day? probably not, but its the day CHRISTians used as a day to celebrate his birth, we wouldn't care if anyone celebrated the day or who celebrates if they would quit trying to change it to happy holidays or whatever, after all, if they are atheists and don't believe in God, fine, celebrate it, but don't try and change our religious Holiday...the only reason its becoming secular is because they are trying to make it so, if it was up to christians...real christians, it would be kept Merry Christmas, not Happy holidays, I don't see atheist trying to celebrate or change Hanukka, or kwanza, or a buddhist religions practice, or islams holy days...so why christmas? if you don't believe in God then leave our worship days alone, or at the very least if you want to celebrate it then fine....but who are you to have the right to try and change it just because you want an excuse to decorate your house and give and recieve presents? celebrate it fine...but don't change it, its a christian holiday, it started out as one, and we will keep it as one.....seperation of church and state?...freedom of religion as well, we should be able to celebrate our religion without anyone poking their noses into it.
